"Okay." Carson replied as they arrived at the speaker. He ordered that as well as large fries, a bottle of orange juice, and a box of chicken nuggets for himself. Then pulled up to the front. With a mischievous grin, Carson paid for the food with his own money, ignoring the money in the cup holder. He smirked as he handed Ashley her bag of food.
-
A clear pout was on her lips as her brows were furrowed quite upset. ''Seriously Carson? I could've paid,'' Ashley said, grabbing the money from the cup holder and placing it in the armrest compartment. She rested her elbows on the armest, a grin on her lips. ''Well, since you're paying for the little trip and now the food, I'll just have to keep the money in the compartment. Eventually, you'll use the money,'' Ashley hummed, holding the bag of food with one arm. ''Maybe for gas,'' She said with a shrug, taking a fry and eating it.
-
Carson chuckled. "Sure." He replied imagining a possible younger sibling finding the money in her mail box later. Carson chuckled at the thought and decided that that wouldn't work. He played the CD again as he pulled back into the road,
-
''So Carson,'' Ashley said, leaning forward to lower down the volume of the music to simply talk with him. ''What's your family like?'' She questioned, eating another French fry. Ashley gently drumming her fingers against the compartment where the money rested. Ashley could imagine Carson with a little sister, possibly annoying her, and a younger brother, with the traditional mother and father.
-
"Well, I have an older sister. She no longer lives with us though. I have a mom who likes to know every single detail of my life, which I don't mind. My parents are divorced and my little brother lives with my father. Then I have two half sisters who are twins and live with our father, and a little half sibling who lives with me and me mom. They are non-binary, so they prefer not to be a certain gender." Carson explained.
-
''It's only fair I talk about my family since you talked about your interesting family,'' Ashley said, clearing her throat. She often didn't tell people about her deceased father and at times, causes her to seem, different from others. ''Well, I can't say much about my dad, he died a long time ago in a car accident,'' Ashley said, licking her lips. ''Joshua, my older brother, lived in London for, um, two or three years,'' She added, wiping her left eye. ''My mom has forced me to tag along with her and her travels, ever since dad died she's been in a bubble but, with therapy, she's getting better. So don't blame her when she prefers texting or talking over the phone rather than a face to face conversation,'' Ashley said, a nervous laugh escaping her lips. ''Hm, favorite place to go to?'' Ashley asked, changing the subject.
-
Carson smiled warmly and glanced at her before returning his eyes to the road. He would have to continue this conversation at a time when it was safer to look at her. "Well, I've always wanted to go to America. But then they elected Trump and that dream went out the window." Carson chuckled. "I like the city. But I like the country as well." He added with a smile.
-
Ashley laughed and covered her lips with her hand. ''Visiting America can't be that bad, I mean I haven't been there for years but, still, it's America,'' Ashley hummed with a smile. ''I highly doubt he's going to be president for the full four years,'' She added, rolling her eyes at the thought of Trump. ''What your favorite place to visit in London?'' She questioned, wanting to narrow the questions down to know where they were going.
-
"Well, your house seems like a pretty sweet choice." He teased with a grin. Carson chuckled, wondering if she would get what he meant. "Though to be honest my favourite place to go is my friend Alice's house. I used to baby sit her. Recently her house has been my brother Joseph's favourite place to go as well." Carson told Ashley. "I wonder why." He added. Though he had his suspicions.
-
Ashley laughed, her cheeks dusting over in pink. ''Hilarious,'' She said, a snicker escaping her lips as she understood what he meant. ''But I'm surprised, the Carson Small was a babysitter,'' She said, a giggle escaping her lips. ''Were you any good at babysitting? I don't see you as the type to take care of kids,'' Ashley hummed, taking out Carson's large fries and placing it in the cupholder for him to eat something.
-
Carson chuckled. "I don't know. Maybe letting her play in the open oven was a mistake. Who knew." He joked. "How irresponsible do you think I am? Wait... I don't want to know." Carson teased, chuckling as he ate his fries. "I think I was. But you would have to ask Alice." He added.
-
Ashley laughed, leaning back against the car seat, getting herself comfortable for the long drive. ''I'll totally ask her, whenever I go over your place,'' Ashley said, biting her bottom lip. ''How long will it take until we get there?'' She questioned, raising an eyebrow at him.
-
Carson turned the volume back up as they drove through the country side. "We should be there soon." He told her, munching on French fries as another song played. (
-
''Is all the songs on the CD love songs?'' Ashley questioned, snickering. She leaned over and gently kissed Carson on the cheek. ''But I honestly love these songs,'' Ashley hummed, rolling down the window, looking out into the loving scenery. She grabbed her camera and took a few pictures of the beautiful countryside.
-
Carson smiled and blushed at the kiss. He pulled into a dirt road with birch trees growing over like an archway. "Well I wasn't going to play break up songs on a date Now was I?" He chuckled.
