Kate looked around. The living room had the same colour scheme as her room when she was little. The couch was brown with pink and black patterned cushions. The carpet was yellow with a black diamond on it. The curtains were pink and the walls were light brown. There was a yellow trunk with pink diamonds on it. And a painting of Persephone, Kate, and Persephone's friends playing cards in Kate's bedroom hung on the wall. This... This couldn't be her imagination... Could it? Or did she have a major case of Schizophrenia?
-
Persephone said "I can tell you're more than a little weirded out by all this. Sitting in a building and talking to someone you were convinced wasn't real."
-
"Yeah..." Kate replied, sitting on the couch. The couch was real... So maybe this was real? "Uh... So where have you been while I was in middle School?" Kate asked.
-
Persephone said "Well, after you said goodbye and left, I stayed in your house with my friends until a new family rented it. Unfortunately, their son was too old to see me. So we walked to the park we all liked and stayed there since no one could see us. Though after a while, my friends all started fading one by one, and that meant the creator no longer believed in them."
-
"Creator?" Kate asked. "Me?" She asked. This was feeling a bit freaky. "So... I created you? So are you real or not?" Kate asked. She hoped she wasn't going crazy... She saw what happened to people who were crazy in movies...
-
"I'm real, but only to those who are open and acceptant of the weird and strange and only if I want them too." she answered.
-
"Oh... Okay." Kate replied. She was okay with being weird and strange. Just not crazy. But... Didn't Persephone just define crazy? Kate decided to stop questioning it. Imaginary or real. She finally had her friend back.
-
Persephone said "I'm here for a reason though. In all reality, I should have disappeared a long time ago. I'm still here because, apparently, you still need me."
-
Kate tilted her head. "Yeah..." Kate admitted. If her therapist or parents saw the tattoo on her chest... They would be disappointed. But was it the tattoo that kept Persephone alive?
-
Persephone said "So that's why I'm here. Just come here or send me a letter and I'll help you out."
-
"Uh... Okay. I'll have to be careful. I don't want anyone thinking I'm crazy." Kate told her. "Even if I maybe am..." Kate added, walking to the door. "Oh, and also... I never forgot you." Kate told Persephone before walking out the door. She saw the boy from earlier standing at the sidewalk.
-
Persephone smiled and walked to a window to watch her friend leave. What she saw however, was her staring at a boy.
-
"Hi. I saw you leave school campus." Brian told her with a charming grin. "I was wondering what you were up to. Hope you don't mind that I followed you here." He added. "Uh... Hi Brian. I was just saying hi to a friend of mine..." Kate told him. "And no... I don't mind..." She added, blushing. "No ones lived here for years you know." Brian added, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah... Percy likes hanging out here." Kate told him, picking a shorter, more common name for Persephone.
-
Persephone smiled brightly as she saw Kate blush in front of that boy.
-
"Okay. So you aren't up to anything illegal?" Brian teased. "No!" Kate replied, frowning. "I was kidding!" Brian chuckled. Kate blushed in embarrassment. "May I walk you back to school?" Brian asked.
