Hendrina glanced around the crowd, picking on an elder nobleman, his grey hair pushed back wearing an old-fashioned bow tie. ''What shall we do about the civil war, what's the course of action?'' He questioned. Hendrina's hand remained on the podium, a nervous smile on her lips. ''I cannot go into deep details about our plans but, we do indeed have our eyes upon winning this pointless war,'' Hendrina said, clear enough for him to hear. The crowd began buzzing with excitement, many men, and women hands raised for their questions to be answered. A woman, face caked with makeup, her eyes fluttering with excitement. ''Who is the man you wish to marry?!'' She squealed with excitement. Hendrina's heart pounded against her chest, her cheeks warm. She glanced over at her mother and shook her head. ''T-That'll wait until I receive the church's approval of marriage,'' Hendrina stuttered, pushing back a loose hair. ''No more questions, Xavier please bring the crown,'' Hendrina's mother said, as he reluctantly obeyed.
-
Zack watched as he stayed silent.
-
After receiving the crown, the podium was moved for full few of the coronation. ''I hereby declare you, Hendrina Lorraine Martin, the new Queen of Hiria Kingdom,'' Slowly placing the crown upon her head, Ms. Martin continued forth. ''For good wealth, good fortune, and for the brightest future of Hiria, shall you forever live on in memory, and in being! Long live Queen Hendrina!'' Her mother declared, people cheering. ''Now for the church's announcement,'' She continued, a woman in a cloak, her hair long and purple with ice blue eyes. The cloak was black and trimmed with the Hiria symbol in gold. Before beginning, the cloaked woman remained silent, allowing the crowd to settle down. ''Would anyone like to say anything before I begin?'' She questioned, assisting Hendrina to stand by her side.
-
Zack went into his sash and nervously started playing with the golden ring box.
-
The woman nodded to the crowd as all was silent. She turned to Hendrina, her fingers on her shoulders, rubbing in circles. ''Queen Hendrina,'' She said, with the maiden stiffing at the words. ''With the assistance of the Gods above, I announce you free to marry!'' The men an woman in the ballroom cheered as the woman silenced them. With a wave of her hand, the lights were turned off, the torches in the back of the stage, lighting. Their flames flickered each with a different color. Two torches remained unlit, and she could feel her heart sink. ''Hendrina, please select the man you wish to marry.'' Her feet slow and heavy, she followed the instructions glancing over the sheets of paper. Hendrina's fingers twitched as she tried to look for Zack's name, her cheeks dusted pink. Where is it? She thought, soon seeing the slip of paper but the torch wasn't burning as brightly as the others. I forgot, he didn't... Hendrina thought to herself, her eyes watering as she moved her hand over to any another sheet of paper.
-
Zack then looked down as he sighed quietly.
-
''Hendrina,'' The cloaked woman's words struck her heart as she glowered at the slips of paper. ''Choose,'' The woman demanded, with Hendrina's eyes scanning the crowd. All the people in the ball remained silent, impatient waiting for the Queen to pick the man she wished to wed. Swallowing down the lump in her throat, she spotted Zack. Brows furrowed and eyes trained on his form. ''Prince Zackery,'' Hendrina called, her hands interlacing with one another. She had hope, hope that was swinging on a thin red colored string. ''Please, don't you have anything to say, at all?'' She asked, her eyes pleading. For all this time she wanted a life with the prince, for if the torch isn't lit she couldn't. The crowd had their gaze upon the prince, softly mumbling amongst themselves.
-
Zack sighs and keeps his hand in his sash."Well.."He started as he stared at the unlit torches"I thought that we would be together forever and actually have kids.."He muttered the last part as he looked Straight at Hendrina, blocking out other noise"Even though you're a witch and I'm an elf,I've always been by your side and I've always remained loyal and kind to you and I don't care what the others think of me"He spoke strongly as he narrowed his eyes.
-
Her heart pounded against her chest at his words. She bit her bottom lip, the cloaked woman glowering at the elf. The woman lifted her finger pointing to the prince, she curled her finger and pointed to the stage. ''Come here please, Prince Zackery,'' Her voice cold and heavy in the air as the people in the crowd stiffen. ''Someone get ready to either light the torch or destroy it,'' she said. Hendrina stiffened at her words, wishing to plead with her not to destroy the torch as it caused bad luck to one's relationship causing them to become foes. For her lips remained sealed, her hands clinging to each other to keep her from shaking.
-
Zack calmly walked onto the stage.
-
''Now young man, explain it clearly to the Queen,'' The woman said, hand directing to Hendrina. She lifted her gaze, looking at the prince. Her gaze fell to the stash, as she pointed to it. ''Is that your surprise you spoke so fondly of?'' Hendrina asked the soft muffled sound of footsteps were in the back of her. She saw a man with a box of matches, and another holding a hammer. ''What...What do you have to say?'' She questioned taking a step further. The crowd waited in anticipation, mumbling the possibilities. The guards were on stand in case the prince had other plans, such as killing their new queen.
-
Zack then pulled out the box and opened it up to reveal a ring.
-
-
The crowd gasped at the ring, gossiping about its unique beauty. A hand covering her lips, Hendrina eyed the ring. She could feel tears of joy prickling her eyes, about to run down her cheeks. She wiped underneath her eyelids, careful not to smudge her makeup. ''Z-Zack..'' Hendrina croaked, unable to find the right words to say. ''I see, continue forth or I'll have to call the guards to return you home,'' The cloaked woman said, telling the man with the hammer to leave. The man with the matches, prepared a match, having it lit and had it's flame flicker impatiently to the torch.
-
Zack then took the ring out.
