Lan walked beside Archaios quietly and afraid. "I'm sorry if you think I'm a coward..." She mumbled.

Archaios shrugged"you don't need to apologize

She walked to the orphanage and looked back to see Archaios on the bench again. She went for dinner and gong to sleep, scolded for being late.
The next morning Lan went back to the bench. "Hello." She greeted. -
Archaios looked at her.and waved "hello
-
She sat beside him and read out loud from her book. As the sun rose to the top of the sky, turning morning to noon, she finally finished the novel and sighed.

Archaios hummed softly as he listened to her read, working on making a set of bolas

"Why are you always making weapons?" She asked nervously.

He shrugged as he finished one and got started on another

Suddenly, a shriek was heard from the orphanage. "What are you doing!?! You should NOT be talking to strange men!" Miss. P shouted. She grabbed Lan by the arm and carried her outside. "Misbehave again, and you'll be kicked out!!! Understand!?!" She shouted.

Archaios growled faintly and he got up

(Good Morning!)
"I-I... I'm sorry..." Lan cried, feeling shocked as she winced from the grip on her wrist. "You are to stay in your room today without supper!" She ordered.
Nethertheless, Lan still sat on the bench the next day. "Could have been worse..." She mumbled, wiping her tears. -
Morning!)
Archaios looked at her in faint concern -
Lan finally stopped her tears and smiled. "Could have been worse! They could have used the whip!" She cheered positively. "Compared to that, being yelled at is okay." She concluded.
"I wonder if we have those little free boz libraries that are so popular in America. If so, I can trade my old book for a new one! Then trade that one for another one! And if I want to read my old book again, I can!" She wondered. -
Archaios frowned and then he looked up at the sky to check the time before he got up and started walking

Lan went home, deciding to apologize for her bad behavior. She decided to bake a cake! She baked a wonderful cake with jam stuffed in it and butter on the top and sides! When the teacher saw the kind gift that was beautiful and sweet, she decided that Lan was a kind girl as she had always been!
Lan was asked to make more cakes for the orphanage and that she did! While waiting for cakes to bake she sat with Archaios. Soon, when she was 12, Lan was signed up to go to a special boarding school! She was so excited that she forgot to tell the friend she was meeting with for the past two years.
