Larkin smiled, a full one. It didn't seem foreign. It seemed natural. She turned around to see both parents grinning as if they won the Hoosier Lottery. She turned back to see Bryce's eyes on her smiling. Larkin looked at her feet shifted, feeling the heat rise up in her face once more. She wasn't accustomed to this. All the smiles. It seemed wrong. That she's happy, but everyone else in the orphanage. Like she cheated. The thoughts set an uneasy feeling inside her stomach. She pushed it away. She knew she deserved this. Being abandoned. Left on the front porch of the place that has been her home for years. Where she started walking. Saying full and actual sentences. She needed this.
-
Bryce chuckled silently to himself as he saw her smile before him, still smiling himself. He had a small feeling that they may get along..possibly. It's too hard to tell right now, he had just met her and all he's seen is simple and the basics for the most part. To truly know if they would, he would have to wait and find out for the future. He could see his parents soon passing by him soon followed by the sound of the car doors opening and closing. "We should get in." he said to her before sliding into the car himself quickly, fastening the belt around himself as he closed the door afterwards and waited for her to get in at the other side. Glancing over to it as he sat there.
-
Larkin just stood there for a nanosecond and quickly slid into the car next to Bryce, putting her seatbelt into place. For the first time all day she can finally think. Although she didn't mind the quiet, the peace was driving her insane right at the moment. "So...uh....Bryce? Right?" She asked looking at him, analyzing all of his features. Mesmerizing his face. The sculpt of jaw line, and his godly high cheekbones. His eyebrows. She soak it all in. Realizing that he's beautiful. Straight beauty. It amazed Larkin. How something could condone so much at once. It confused her. But she didn't mind. She loved solving mysteries
-
Bryce stared out the window for a few seconds before he heard his name coming from beside him, turning to look into her eyes as he smiled to her again with a nod. "Yeah, it's Bryce, Larkin." he said to her in reply. "Something you..need?" he asked slowly tilting his head slightly and curiously to see if so. Observing her as he did so, soon feeling the car start off and down the road. Down to head to home.
-
Larkin chipped off the old navy blue nail polish on her thumbnail. "Uh...I just wanted to know...umm....what were your thoughts on your parents.....uh..." She couldn't really say it. She didn't want to appear to be too odd, or different, or just plain weird. It wouldn't be the best impression to have on Bryce. Especially in the sense she has just met him and has made it a habit to laugh at her every movement. From her gawky arm movements, to down right squeaking.
-
Bryce leaned back in the seat a bit, adjusting himself as he thought about it for a bit. His thoughts on his parents she asked? Hmm.."well...they take care of me, good and shelter. I would say they're quite good. I'm glad to have had them as my parents, for one. Its great, I guess you could say. Anything specific you wanted to know?" he replied to her question after a while. Probably nervous about this isn't she? Maybe..why as it the question it fits perfectly of so. he thought to himself.

Sorry I had food)
Larkin thought about asking her next question, but was in between. What if he just looks at me as if I'm just another person....and not his new sibling....what if.... Larkin grew uneasy as she tried to ask her question but every time she opened her mouth, no words would come out. It infuriated Larkin to no end. How she could barely speak to the boy next to her, let alone to the people that have just adopted her. She tried again to get her words straight. "So um...what are your thoughts on me....I mean that uh.....me being....uh....an orphan...." -
Bryce stared at Larkin, he could tell she seemed...nervous maybe, at the time. Keeping silent as he watched keep opening and closing her mouth, waiting for her to speak what she wanted to say. Giving her time. He xhuxkled again quietly to himself as he heard her. "You should try to..calm down before speaking. Take a deep breath, relax...maybe." he said to her as he thought about what she had asked him. "Thoughts on you...? I just met you a few minutes ago...you seem beautiful.." he said quietly as he kept his eyes to her, soon going to look past and out the window. "Maybe...interesting too? I'm not exactly sure. Hope we can get along though.." he said.
-
Larkin blushed, looking down at her feet. "I'm sorry...I just really cannot help it....just having this happen and all. I am really not used to this." Larkin smiled, ear to ear at his comment, "Well thank you for that....you're not half bad yourself. And for you to know, I hope the same thing.....I mean with the getting along area." Larkin felt the heat in her cheeks rising higher and higher. She attempted to hide it with moving her hair in her face. A usual procedure. "Do you....um....have any questions for me?Regarding anything?"

Goodnight. Sorry if I misspell on this post, I don't have my glasses on)
Bryce nodded his head to her, understanding what she meant. "Its alright, Larkin. Just take some time to adjust. You'll get used to it." he said to her trying to help her, maybe, seem better. "Youare welcome, Larkin. And...thanks. Good to know we share that." he said quietly tobher, as he glanced out the window at the passing cars wlthat fly by them. "Questions..? Hmm...how old are you, Larkin? I'm sixteen." he asked her curiously after a bit. -
Fell asleep....sorry)
Curiosity swarmed through Larkin as she watched the cars pass by as if for a nanosecond they seemed to speed up as they flew out of her sight. "Well....I'm 15 actually. I turn 16 the first of March," Larkin looked down at her hands when she spoke the date. March 1st has always been a struggle for her. Although Mrs. Bannis brings a cupcake to her every year, the day has been a depressing one, cupcake or not. Many children spoke how she was an eyesore on that day. Never seeming to be how she is on every other day. Continued to ask if something has bad happened, but she always shook her had. Even though something did bad happen, many things in fact..."Yeah....fifteen..." -
All's well in hell, Jozlyn.)
Bryce kept his eyes fixated on Larkin as he awaited for her to answer. His eyes taking in all, or most, of her features as he sat there smiling softly over towards her. "Fifteen? You...if i had to have guessed, I would say was older." he said after a bit honestly. Surprised a bit but not much. "Well...I'm sixteen, myself. September 11 is when I was born. The date.." he said in reply giving the answer himself to the question he had asked her. "Are you alright, Larkin?" he asked her after a bit, worriedly. -
Cx thank sentence though)
Larkin felt tears slowly swelling up in her eyes, and quickly wiped them away. She's not used to being asked that. She nodded fast, and slowed down soon after. "Yeah." She croaked out. Her voice hoarse. Larkin cleared her voice and tried again. "Uh-huh....my hair just...." she trailed off, her thoughts drifting away into another place for a moment. Where she had a family, and a place to call home, something not like the orphanage. But where she could tell them everything, and they wouldn't ask questions, just be there for them. Just be there. That's the life she desired the most. Someone that loved her, without being forced. Without being any catches. Unconditional. Larkin shook her head, slower, then picking up pace as she felt a tear roll down her cheek. -
What about it? XD)
Bryce sighed lightly and shook his head to himself, mostly. "No you're not..." he whispered quietly to himself again, closing his eyes for a few moments before reopening them, leaning over a bit to her. "It'll be alright.." he said quietly as he reached over and patted her on her shoulder gently, smiling slightly over to her. "Whatever you have, whatever it is..I'm here. Can try to help..listen or anything, I guess. If needed. You are family now, after all." he said to her After a few moments before leaning back in his seat and going back to looking out the window and waiting -
It's just so magical! XD)
Larkin sat there. She couldn't move, his words, they were so simple to others. But she latched onto them for dear life. You are family now..... His words echoed in her mind as if it's her mantra. She refused to let them go. Larkin nodded, "Thank you. I....uh..." Larkin directed her eyes to her hands once again..."I'm not used to being apart of...." She tried to pronounce the word but it's refusal to be said only made this more difficult than need to be. She opened her mouth, but once again no sound came out. She tried again and again, but still the sounds seemed to have no will to leave.
