Leo turned around. He felt ashamed for reacting to this guy, like he was a dog. Leo wanted to seem obedient. He wanted to make everyone proud of him. Leo just felt he should. He lived with his grandmother before she died. She seen him as a load of trash. She never believed he could do anything. He never believed he could do anything either. She forced him to do everything for her. Leo cooked and cleaned. Leo worked his ass off each day of his stupid life and he never got praised. He thought.
*******Leo's Flashback********
Leo's hand gripped the mop and threw it down on the kitchen floor. "I'm not doing this anymore! Clean it your damn self. I have to do everything here." He snarled at the the old lady, as she rocked back and forth in a rocking chair. "You'll think that when I beat that pretty face in." She hissed back.
~End Of flashback~
Zayn turned to the direction of the board. He listened for the male to continued speaking. Zayn had so many questions. He wasn't going to ask the guy for answers. He could answer them himself. He felt this guy was telling the truth but his mind wouldn't let him to believe it. He wiped his eye's and faced the board. The room felt hot to him. Zayn guessed it was because all the lights. He put his hands in his lap and unzipped his jacket. He had on a white jacket and a black shirt under it. -
(Wow, I just got some evil idea's for this >:3)
"Now, the four of you will be escorted from here to Atlanta with a team to help protect you and guide you along your way. Once in Atlanta, the four of you will have to make it into the CDC with your team only on standby as they can't follow you into the facility. We'll provide you with fake ID's that should get you through the scanners and into the CDC with little to no trouble. We'll also provide you with bombs and various other sorts of weapons. Your main objective is to get inside and free the other children who are being tested on. If things get too hot we'll send the team in, but we don't want to go in with a bang. We don't need more casualties than needed," Brian continued.

After listening a bit more about what General Allord had to say, Ausra cleared her throat a bit, looking back at the General. "Permission to speak, sir," she stated. General Allord threw Ausra an odd look, as not very many peopled use that term in the army anymore, but he nodded his head. "Permission granted," he spoke. Ausra nodded her head back at him. "Sir, you said that the CDC is planning something worse than they're already doing for children like us, kids with these powers... what exactly are they doing?" A soft sigh escaped General Allord's throat as he looked down at his computer screen. "Well, if you insist..." he spoke softly while pulling new images up onto the screen.
~~~~~~
What Morgan saw made his stomach turn, and it took a lot to make Morgan's stomach turn. Children, teenagers, young adults, all cut up and mutilated. Their brains were taken out, flesh torn off and bones exposed. It was almost like taking a glimpse into Hell, and Morgan had to turn his head away for a moment to control his feelings and anger. "We believe that the CDC is trying to accomplish two things by doing this," General Allord spoke up as he crossed his arms. "They're either trying to create a new vaccination for the adults and children who aren't immune or becoming genetically mutated by the last vaccination they came up with..." General Allord paused for a moment as he rubbed his temples a bit. It was obvious he was up late at night thinking about what the CDC was doing, and it was obvious he didn't like it, either. "Or they're trying to modify their own DNA to give themselves the powers you poor souls had the unfortunate fate of receiving." -
I'm still doing this. Sorry, it's been forever. My internet hasn't been working. I'll make a post after school.))
-
(It's fine ^~^)
-
Leo watched the screen. He looked down at the ground, feeling sorry for those children. This could've been him. Leo eye's darted at the mysterious teen male. He looked back at the screen. "What if we don't save those people in time?" He spilled his thoughts out loud. He didn't mean to but his mind was an outgoing mind. He felt bashful for even saying it. "Wait. I'm sorry. Proceed." Leo felt so damn stupid with himself. He shouldn't speak unless asked and he shouldn't of asked such a ridiculous question. He knew the answer. They would die or General Allord would call back up. He looked down at his lap, avoiding everyone's glare.
Zayn watched this. He didn't have a problem with seeing sights like this. He was use to these conditions. His mind was a insane one. Zayn awkwardly looked away. He felt he should at least look somewhat petrified. His arms crossed and he swallowed. He almost felt bored, that was until the blonde male spoke. He stared at him like a hawk. Zayn's eyes burning holes through the kid. He started to imagine himself kicking that kid for saying something. Zayn didn't like bold and perfectionist kids. It was the type he would've made fun of a very long time ago. However, he couldn't do anything now. -
Ausra looked at the boy who spoke up, her eyes full of fear at what she had witnessed on the screen. Her eyes were also full of fear because she thought General Allord was going to punish the poor kid, like they did back in what was left of Lithuania and Russia. To her surprise, though, General Allord only nodded as he took the images off of the screen, and Ausra let out a sigh in relief, glad she didn't have to look at those horrible images any longer. But still, Ausra's attention was still focused on the boy who had spoken out of turn. She was amazed at his bravery, or at least what she hoped was bravery. It was better than stupidity, and the kid didn't seem stupid at all. In all honesty, Ausra seemed rather intrigued by this kid.
~~~~~~
"Moving on," Brian spoke up again, clearing his throat while he pulled the map of the east coast back up. "Our objective is to move you four from here down to Atlanta. Right now, this is all you need to worry about. In order to get you there safely though, and keep you four under the radar, the trip is going to take about a month. We can't fly you out there because the CDC will see us coming, and you all know what happened to the water supply around the coast. Instead, we'll slowly be moving you through the area, but I'll warn you now there are so very unkind gangs out there that might try and attack you and your team. We'll give you protection, but these people around here are driven almost to the brink of insanity. They're the main reason why It'll take so long. Right now, all you need to worry about is getting to Atlanta safe and alive. Further orders will be given to you then."
~~~~~~
As Morgan listened to General Allord go on and on about what their objective was and reasons why they could possibly die along the trip, there was a question that was in the back of his mind. Why us? Why me? Why them? Why? "Excuse me, sir," Morgan spoke up as soon as General Allord paused for a moment to make sure everyone was following along. "With all due respect, sir, but... why us? Why me? Why them? Why are you having a couple of kids do this job? I know others will be with us, but to me it just doesn't make sense. We were trained to control our powers and protect ourselves if the time came around. We're not soldiers. We're just kids compared to the rest of you, no offense. So why are you having us do this? What's the point?"
~~~~~~
(I just got two really evil idea's for this >:3) -
>;) Evil ideas make me fear the love of characters.))
Leo pushed hair out of his eye's and looked up at the General. Leo felt almost elated that he didn't get yelled at. Leo's soft eye's turned to look at the female. He looked away quick, anxious to know she was already staring. Leo didn't mind people watching him. He liked attention and meeting people. This girl though. She intimidated him. He felt like she was staring through his soul. He didn't know if he liked that about her or hated it. Leo popped out of his thoughts when the mysterious guy talked. He licked his dry bottom lip and took in a breath. The room wasn't very warm anymore to him. Leo felt the silence is what made it cold. He listened to male, almost wanting to speak with him. He wanted to rant at someone or something. Leo thought about everything that was wrong with himself. He felt hungry and his need to pee wasn't a good feeling. He'll solve these problems later.
Zayn looked away and thought. He sighed and grunted. "Yeah. I'm with him. Why us? Maybe, I don't want to exactly do this. Isn't there any other powerful kid somewhere? I don't want to die on a mission. Sir." Zayn wasn't taking any of this serious. He felt like he was in some kind of weird video game. He didn't take the General serious either. Zayn felt like he was to good to be sitting around with these people. He wanted to be back home, where he can work on cars and not be bored out of his mind. Zayn looked around. -
So, I was thinking, this is of course with your permission, what if General Allord took Leo aside, thinking that he was probably the most capable of the group to do this, and explained to him that if anything went wrong on the mission once they reached Atlanta, and there was the possibility of one of them being captured and taken away for testing, he had to shoot whoever was going to be captured? And then one of the group is on the verge of being captured (but they don't have to die, Leo could shoot and injure them) That way the CDC wouldn't get farther along with their projects, since these four are the most powerful? If you don't want to do it that's fine ^~^ and I totally forgot my second idea whoops xD))
Once Morgan spoke, the odd boy with the Irish accent who didn't seem to speak much, Ausra's eyes were torn away from Leo and to Morgan and General Allord. Honestly, she was wondering the same question. Why where they there? Them, out of everyone else in the world, why them? A slight sigh escaped her lips, but she made sure to keep it quiet. She didn't mean any disrespect. "And, if I may, sir, I would like to know, too," Ausra finally spoke up. "It's not that I am worried of dying on this mission, or that I wish to defy your orders, it's just... why children? Why us?"
~~~~~~
A soft sigh escaped Brian's lips when this question was asked. He knew full well why what was left of the American Army was sending in a group of teenagers to the CDC. It's because the American Army can't handle the CDC. America used to be so great, but now, after everything, their Army was reduced to rubble. Their best bet was those four teens right in front of him. Brian and his men tried to act proud, tough, and brave, but going into the CDC with as little men as they had... it was a suicide mission. But Brian didn't let those thoughts show, instead he chuckled a bit. "Less casualties. Quick in and out. A better plan. I thought it was obvious. You teens are genetically modified and can easily pull this job off within the next month! Using the U.S. Army, we'd take longer to get so many men down to Atlanta, more children would just die, and we can't waste that. Getting four teens down is no problem, and you all have four times the power as any of our best men. It only makes sense," Brian explained with ease.
~~~~~~
It only makes sense. I thought it was obvious. Morgan almost wanted to smirk. He was taken out of Ireland and brought all the way over to s--- Town U.S.A just because of those simple reasons? It was almost hard to believe, but he guessed it made sense. With that said, Morgan only shrugged his shoulders and leaned back in his chair, waiting for General Allord to give more information or do whatever the hell he needed to do. By that point, all Morgan could think about was how hungry he was. What was it? Around dinner? And damn, he was tired too. "Alright, any more questions about the mission?" General Allord spoke up. "Please, speak up now so you wont have to come find me later tonight. And if you do have questions, please hurry up. I am hungry for a good home cooked meal, and I'm sure the rest of you are, too. The faster we get this over with, the sooner you kids can eat." -
Yes. I love it. xD I just want no characters to die.))
Leo looked around, wondering if anyone else was going to ask anything. He missed Canada already. It was trash and pretty much nothing here in America. In Canada, they didn't have much either. However, they did have little tiny places were survivors stayed together. It was sad to remember the old days, so Leo didn't think about them. Leo wiped his face and thought about dinner. 'Eating with new people will he awkward.' Leo thought and looked down at his shoes. He still had questions, but it was nothing important. He dusted his dark jeans off. There was nothing on them but he felt cleaning his appearance would be best. He also wondered what powers the other kid's had. Fire? Ice? Earth? Wind? The girl didn't look like she had any of the elements. The two male figures didn't either. He studied The General. Leo respected The General, but he respected the teenager's opinions more. Leo missed surfing, he use to do this for very long hours. It made Leo's back and legs strong.
Zayn was ready to leave. He was instantly relieved when they said it was almost time to go. Zayn thought about his old job. He worked real hard. His arm's had strength. Working in a car lot was hard. Gasoline, like everything else near America, was in a shorter supply. The had tons of marine fuel left but that wasn't going to help cars. The money of his paychecks got lower and lower. He was making 4 dollar's a hour now. It was barely enough to survive. Zayn always worked something out. He always got by in harsh conditions. So, this wouldn't he a problem. Zayn knew America wasn't doing good, from the look's of it, it was doing horrible. Zayn drew a sly smirk on his face. All the snobby looking kids. He would be the only one to live. These dumb kids probably had enough food and money for a lifetime. They wouldn't be able to deal with the feeling of suffering. However, Zayn could and that made him pleased. -
No these kids are too sweet to die
not to sweet to be injured :D but too sweet to die xD)
"Alright," Brian said while turning the projector off, along with his laptop. "If you guys don't have any questions then you may head to dinner. There will be two guards waiting outside the room to show you four where to go, so don't worry about getting lost. After dinner the four of you will be escorted to your quarters for tonight. I'm sorry Miss Kubis, but you'll be staying with the boys tonight. The four of you wont be heading out for Atlanta until tomorrow night, that way there will be more cover. That, and you four will be able to know each other a bit better, as it's always nice to know the people who might be saving your ass one of these days, right? You are excused." Brian looked at the four children, but once his eyes settled on Leo's, he couldn't take his eyes off of him. Leo Rhome, nineteen years old, from Canada. Reports spoke highly of his leadership skills.
~~~~~~
Aursa was a little surprised. Well, all things American surprised her. Dinner every night? Apologizing for having to sleep in boys' quarters? Most of the time there was a food shortage and there was no dinner, and everyone in the same age group slept in the same room together on the floor with nothing but a mat, pillow, and blanket! She found herself lying next to guys often, and she honestly didn't mind one bit. But, since she was dismissed, along with the others, she slowly stood up, almost doing the salute she had to do back home, but she stopped herself before she started. "Thank you, sir," she stated instead before slowly making her way towards the door. She felt a bit awkward not having anyone else follow her at the moment, though. She wasn't much of a leader, more of a follower, and if not either, then she preferred to be independent. Independent... No, not now. Don't you dare think about that now.
~~~~~~
Now that he was excused, Morgan stood up without a single word. It almost seemed as if he was bored, even, with everything that was going on. He followed the girl, the Russian he was guessing, as she began to open the door so she could head to dinner. Strange. Still, what General Allord said about using us to go in instead of people of the army doesn't make sense. Sure this guy is tough and a damn good liar, but I don't trust him. Hell, I don't think I trust anyone here. This is a load of bulls---! f--- America, I just want to go back to Ireland already. I didn't sign up for this mission. Who gives a f--- about American casualties? Why risk our lives for these pussies?
~~~~~~
As the kids started to leave, General Allord spoke up again, but his voice was a bit more quiet and directed. "Leo Rhome," he spoke. "May I speak with you for a moment? It wont take long, I promise. These are private matters and I didn't want to speak about it in front of the others." -
Leo paused and stood. He felt like he was about to get punished. "Sir, Uh. If this is about the speaking without permission. I'm very sorry. My thought's came out very fast and I shouldn't have said a single word." Leo spoke firmly, trying to give a little more respect. He felt better with apologizing. His mind still roamed in other place's. Not allowing his intelligence to show perfectly. He slipped his hands in his pocket's. His standing position was more tall and graceful, then dark and alarming. Leo watched the other's leave. He was ready to take any punishment that was gave. He did deserve it. He should've thought clearly.
Zayn stood, his figure was more chill and comfortable. He followed behind the other's. "Oh. They're about to have that guy's ass now." Zayn mumbled to himself and snickered. At least it wasn't him, for once. Zayn briefly walked. He didn't like this building. It gave him dark and depressing memories. He studied the other's ahead and nodded to himself. He thought about how strong these kids looked. They totally would listen to Zayn. He just had to make them scared first. Zayn smiled a mischievous smile. -
As soon as those words left Leo's mouth, Brian couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Son, you think I'm going to chew your ass out for that?" he questioned. "If I was disrespected by you speaking out of turn, I would have yelled at you on the spot! No, I understand, we're all trained differently. Like that Kubis girl, seems a little up tight, right? While the Keefe and Millay kids act like they could care less." After Brian spoke, his smile and humor instantly dissipated, and a serious expression showed on his face. "No, I asked you to stay here for a different reason. An important one; something to do with the mission. I need to know if you can do this, because out of the four of you, I think you're the most qualified to do this, Mr. Rhome," Brian spoke, his voice grave.
~~~~~~
As the other three we being lead throughout the halls, Ausra couldn't help but feel uneasy about the silence. She hated silence. She couldn't stand being in such a quiet room; there had to be some sort of noise going on, and if not she would usually hum or something to take her mind off of the silence. She looked back, looking around at the place only to notice two of the three boys were following her. "Hey, where's the other boy? The Canadian?" she questioned while looking at the Irish and English kids. It wasn't that she was worried about him, as she was sure nothing bad could happen to the kid, she was just curious of where he could've gone.
~~~~~~
When the girl spoke up, Morgan just checked behind him, and when he saw no one was there he faced forward and shrugged. He could honestly care less what happened to the kid. His mind was focused on walking and trying to figure out what was really going on. He had no proof or reason to think something bad was going to happen, but there was this gut feeling that told him that him and the others were basically f---ed. "Don't know," Morgan stated simply. "Don't care." -
Leo thought and almost choked. "What? I'm not A very qualified person. I mean, I'm not a superhero. In all do respect, I fail tests and I'm horrible at doing things. I don't imagine being qualified at anything." Leo went serious. "What is this I'm qualified to do, sir?" He asked and didn't show any disbelief in his eye's. He was paranoid about The General making him sound like the leader. Leo was just a kid. He didn't want to take the responsibility for the death of any of the other's. He barely knew these people but he didn't want to see anyone die. Leo would break, if any of them died. What was The General saying? Sure. Leo would love to seem like the one in charge. However, he didn't want to take on all the stress of everything at once. Was he being asked to be leader? He didn't mind that at all. He just didn't want deaths.
Zayn walked forward with them and glared around. He didn't really care if anything happened to Blondie, but he was curious too. "I think General took him. He's probably getting slapped for acting like a big, brave boy. I would've slapped him for it." He mumbled the last sentence again. He rolled his eye's. Zayn could already tell the hardest part would be keeping from fighting each other. He looked at the building as they walked. It was huge. Zayn didn't enjoy this one at all. He looked at the people leading them. -
"Trust me," Brian spoke. "You're more qualified than any of the others, in my opinion." A soft sigh escaped Brian's lips. He knew he was asking a lot from the kid, and honestly the kid didn't seem much like a killer, which was both good and bad. "Look, things in Atlanta might get ugly. I'm sure you're fully aware of that. If one of your friends, uh, group members, if they are at risk for being taken away in Atlanta, there's no telling what the CDC will accomplish with them. You and the others, your powers are beyond anything we've ever seen. We can't risk the CDC capturing any of you. I need you to be in charge of making sure they don't get captured. Use your powers to make sure this doesn't happen, as you have the most dangerous. But if they're on the verge of being taken away... they'd be better off killed by your hands than the means of the CDC's."
~~~~~~
"Slapped for speaking out of turn?" Ausra questioned, almost scoffing. "It would make more sense to publicly humiliate him. At least, that's what we did back home. General didn't seem to pissed off at him, though, so it can't be too bad." After that, Ausra shrugged, looking around the building. She had to admit that it was in way better condition than that in Russian Lithuania. And it wasn't so far underground, and she felt free. Deciding that she should change the subject before a bad conversation came up, she said, "I like this place. I don't love it, but it makes me feel a little more free."
~~~~~~
Morgan listened in on the conversation the chick and the other guy, who he honestly thought was a bit stuck up, were having. He, the boy, was interesting. Why did they chose him? This kid seemed stuck up and self-centered, and in a way he seemed to like the pain and suffering of other people; almost. The chick was odd, too. Hell, he guessed he seemed odd to everyone else, though. How the hell was he supposed to get along with everyone? He wasn't even sure what their names and powers were. Still, he stayed quiet and followed the guards escorting them to the dining hall. -
Leo nodded. He didn't want to question The General. Leo was the most powerful? He couldn't be, unless the other's had Earth as their power's. He doubted that. Leo's heart felt strong. It surprised him that he was chosen to be told this. "Thank You, Sir. I understand and I will do, at any means, not to let them get captured." Leo words sounded stronger and more determined. He wasn't sure how he felt about this. He wasn't sure how he felt about any of this. Leo remembered the first time he used his power's. He was sitting in his bed. It was thundering and he was terrified. His parents were not suppose to be home that night and the power went out. He sat up in his bed, as all the candles went out. He didn't know what to do. He raised his hand and touched the candle. The moment he touched it, the candle went into flames and was nothing but a pour of liquid. Leo remembered that day. He would never forget about that day.
Zayn followed the other's and still felt curious. "I hate this place completely. It doesn't feel like home and everything I've heard about it has been bulls---." Zayn crossed his arms, saying that with a snort. He took a sit in a dining chair and thought. He wasn't in a very good mood at the moment. He wished he could've been at home. Ugh. Zayn's whole life consists of complaining. Maybe, he did like this place. Maybe he didn't. It was all his business. He asked something that everyone had been wondering. "What are your guy's powers?" He wiped His eyes.
