"He practically betrayed any trust I had in him. And acts like he owns me. I can't just not be sad. I was taken from my home, treated like dirt, had my tail cut off only a day after being away, then after all the 'kindness' Cyrus showed me, he turned around and...you know.." Basil began to shake in the water, looking away when Trinity caught his eyes. He tried to focus on washing himself and grabbed the shampoo. He sniffed slightly, know more tears were on the way. "Yes, they were my parents. My father was ready to die for me. And as for your pups...I don't know if them wanting to be around me is a cause of them being curious or if they just want to eat me. The later is what scares me and so far Molly is the only one that hasn't tried to or wanted to." The lamb looked back at the wolf with tears in his eyes. "I honestly don't want to live anymore... I've lost just about everything I ever cared for, and as soon as Cyrus is bored of me, he'll just leave me to die or feed me to the pack. I have no reason to even be here.." Basil felt his throat pulse with pain as his voice croaked and cracked, burying his face in his hands as he chocked on a sob.
-
"Well, despite his rude actions, I'm here for you. There are others in the pack, like Molly's parents, that are willing to help you. And unlike our leader, we will not turn around and stab you in the back." Trinity offered him a small smile, noticing that the water was already filthy. The poor lamb really had been injured last night. The smile faded, and he focused on Basil's hands, not sure if he could handle looking at the water anymore. "I'm sure he still would, no matter how far away you are from home. And now, you have us- to me, you're a member of our pack, wolf or not. A pack should be willing to die for their other members," The older sat up a bit, brushing the hair from his eyes. His tail twitched lightly at the sudden movement. "My pups won't eat you. Molly told them all about you, I'm sure they wouldn't eat a cool person like you--" He cut himself off at the tears in the other's eyes, and instantly stopped speaking as Basil spoke up again. Now, he held out his hand, actually touching the smaller's cheek. "Don't feel like that. I.. I know what Cyrus did was wrong, and rather.. Weird, but.. Don't think like that. I won't let him feed you to anyone. In fact, I won't let him touch you anymore. You can start sleeping with me and the pups, and.. We'll protect you! Okay? So get that frown off of your face, little lamb.."
-
"Rude is understatement.. They were cruel and disgusting." Basil looked at the already mucky-looking water, cringing at the distasteful color. It was tinted brown-red from dried blood the night before. He didn't want to sit in it much longer and surely didn't want to rinse his hair with it. "That's not the way things work with wolves, not from what I've seen. Or maybe it's just an alpha thing that makes Cyrus such a...any word that isn't nice will work. I know Molly's different though, and I hope nothing changes her.." The lamb wiped at his eyes, sniffing now and then and trying to take shaky breaths. He didn't want to be in the tub anymore. At least not with the water. He was distracted by his thoughts, so the other's touch startled him and he pulled away in fear. "D-Don't call me that... I hate that name." He huffed and looked at Trinity with a pout, looking him over to see if he was suspicious or untrustworthy at all. After deciding that what he said was trust, Basil nodded lightly and settled back in the middle of the tub, looking at him innocently. "..Okay. Can I, um, ask you for favor..? Since I'll stay with you, can you...can you run a fresh bath in your room? I didn't realize the water would be this dirty..."
-
"I.. I'm sorry, really, Basil." Trinity noted the look on Basil's face and cringed, scratching at his nose. He felt awful about the whole incident. it hadn't been any wolf's fault that Cyrus had been so mean, but he felt as if he had to apologize on their behalf. "You've only been here for about a day and a half. You have much to learn about our race and how we run things." The wolf winced at Basil's reaction to his touch. He glanced down at his hand, worried that he had upset the other too much. Standing, he looked back at the other, a red tint on his face. Apologetically, he offered, "Sorry. I don't know where it came from." His eyes caught Basil's looking him over, and he waited patiently for the other to think. Just thinking about the fact that the wolf had hurt the other so much that the water was a dark color within minutes troubled him. All of the pack had believed him to be a good leader. They apparently did not know as much as they thought about the alpha. "Are you sure? I can clean this one up, unless.." He trailed off, thinking that the other might be worried about Cyrus coming back.
-
"It's not your fault.. I just wish someone had come sooner. But no one cared, except Molly. She was at that door so fast..." The lamb cut off to cough again, feeling sore and speckles of blood. His throat really was tore up from his screams the night before. He looked back at the other when he said he made a lot to learn. "We'll see.. All I know is that I'm live food for all of you." Basil felt over his body noticing different bruises, scratches, and other marks here and there that he could hardly remember where they came from. "That's what he calls me and I hate it." He looked up at Trinity and slowly lifted his arms for help getting out. "Let's get out of here...He's too dangerous to stay. He's threatened Molly before, so I know he'll do worse to you.." The lamb told him in a quiet, raspy sound and perked up as if he forgot something important. "O-Oh! I'll need help..to wrap my tail again after my baths."
-
"If someone had reported your screams earlier, I'm sure several would have come to your aid. However, these walls are more sound proof than you would think. All of the sound came from the door, and Molly happened to be wanting to see you when she heard them.. But she didn't know that she should have come for help sooner. Honestly, I'm surprised he didn't hurt her." Trinity ran a hand through his hair, careful not to upset his bangs that covered over one of his eyes. His ear flicked as he glanced at the coughing lamb. What the alpha had done was unforgiveable. Even the older knew that he had gone too far; Saving the lamb from a rapist, only to turn around and do it to the other. He sighed, shaking his head and looked to the door. "You are not only live food. Don't think like that.." He trailed off, swaying from side to side. Trinity only looked back to Basil when he saw movement in the corner of his eye. After hearing his request, he turned around and got a towel for Basil so he could pick him up out of the icky water. "Do you need me to apply it before I run the other bath, or do you think you can wait? It will not take that long to move to the other room, but it might take me a bit of time to prepare water.."
-
"They look paper thin. And with as old as this place looks, I figured everyone was listening and just ignoring it.." Basil rested his chin on his knees, staring off again. "He didn't hurt her, but he let her see me like that on purpose. He's a terrible person that I had the misfortune of meeting. And you know plenty of the others only see me as food. They're just waiting for their alpha to be done with me.." The lamb watched him curiously, hoping to see his eye under his hair. But the wolf was conscious of keeping it covered. As much as he didn't want to stand or expose himself to the other, Basil tried but could only sit up on his knees. His legs shook under his weight while he reached for the towel, wanting to wrap it around his waist. At the mention of wrapping his tail before his next bath, he shook his head. "That would a waste. I can wait until after."
-
"Looks can be deceiving, sometimes. But I'm sure you already knew that," His golden eye shimmered in the light as his chest heaved a sigh. "I'm well aware. I'm very sorry about all of this. The only way I can make it up to you is to... Well, protect you. From the alpha and from any of the wolves that believe you're food. Molly and my pups will help with the other little ones." Trinity waited for Basil to get situation before he moved the lamb. He watched the other carefully pick up the towel, and once again, he avoided a gaze to stop any wandering eyes. "I can't ever be sure. Now, are you ready, Basil?" He glanced down at him for a look of approval.
-
"Obviously. Deceiving looks have accompanied me the past two days." The lamb paused before taking the towel, looking the older over again. He carefully wrapped it around his waist, trying to keep everything hidden from Trinity still, but it seemed the wolf did a good job of that on his own by looking away from him. Basil let a small smile tug at his lips when the other promised to protect. "Thank you.. But I worry that if Cyrus tries anything, he'll hurt you or the little ones. Just know that..that I might have to give up to him if things get bad. It wouldn't be good if your kids were without a parent..." He was oblivious to the fact that Trinity was without a mate, so he only assumed that a shewolf were there. "Are you sure there'll be enough space for me? I don't want to burden your family or anything." Still, Basil nodded his head in response to being asked if he was ready to go.
-
"All I can assure you is that some of us are as we seem. So do not feel so discouraged with our race." Trinity hummed a bit, amused that Basil looked at him when he mentioned deceiving looks. He thought that the lamb was an interesting character. He hadn't ever met someone like him before. At the same time, the wolf knew that he himself was fairly odd. He didn't act like most wolves. His ear twitched at the other as he caught his smile. "Don't worry about it. He wouldn't hurt the young ones. If he picks a fight with me, I can fight him for the alpha position. He wouldn't try to ruin his rep with the other pack members. You and my pups are safe with me." Trinity paused, wondering if Basil meant something else than what he said, but he quickly disregarded that thought. "Oh, I'm sure. It's just me and my twins. There's always room for one more." At the lamb's nod, he took off towards his room, with Molly pretending to be an officer patrolling the halls for Cyrus.
-
"Now you're just bein contradicting!" Basil whined, reaching up to hold his head as he thought things through. As much as he wanted to believe that some of the wolves weren't savages, he knew that in times where food was scarce, they'd all look at him first. That was just the natural order of things. He looked up at Trinity, shaking his head at the mention of fighting Cyrus for the alpha title. "His reputation wouldn't be ruined by a fight, and..." The lamb trailed off, looking and clasping his hands together. "If you fight the alpha, there is only the option of death, right? And if it's just you, then your pups will need you. So you can't die! Not for me.." Basil leaned on the other, looking up at him with big eyes. "Promise you will never do that." He appreciated Molly's help, and thought she looked rather adorable pacing around outside the room. "Molly, can you get my clothes for me? The ones you brought me and mine from home."
-
"Perhaps I'm trying to confuse you, Basil," Trinity cooed teasingly at the other, adjusting him in his arms so the lamb would have more space to move his arms. Basil was so tiny in his hold, he realized. He was as light as a pup, too. He felt like he would be able to carry the other around whenever he wanted because of those facts. "Oh, it would. It's wrong for a leader of the pack to openly attack one of the pack members over personal affairs. He would be seen as too violent." He paused, his eyes almost glowing when the smaller said his next words. "Are you saying that I'd lose? I'm slightly offended," Trinity laughed a bit, feeling Basil's weight shift to one side. "I promise, for now. I can't promise later if he threatens you." The larger's attention trailed to Molly. He smiled at the little pup. She wanted to do her best for Basil, even though they had only just met. It was just how Trinity felt.
Molly glanced up, nodding. "'Course I can! Trin, tell your pups to open the door for you while I'm getting Basil's clothes!" She darted into Cyrus's room, her tail the last thing to whip out of sight. Trinity looked around, whistling for his puppies. -
"Don't confuse me!" The lamb whined at the wolf, relaxing once he was situated in the other's arms. Basil knew he was small, but being carried by Trinity, a wolf that was obviously bigger than Cyrus, made him feel even smaller. His cheeks tinted red from embarrassment and he hid his face in the older's should, muffling a 'thank you' to Molly. "I'm not saying you would lose, but I fear that you would. I don't know what all he can do.. And it's not personal affairs if you fight for the position of Alpha. Don't challenge him in that way. It would give him a not-so-personal reason to fight or kill you." Basil reached up to grip Trinity's shirt, watching two twins run over, tumbling now and then. He couldn't help giggling at them, finding them adorable as they used each other to open the door. The girl seemed to push her brother down, standing on his back to reach the doorknob. They somewhat worked together, a toddler team. The lamb kept his eyes on them as he spoke. "That's..so cute yet it seems so mean.."
-
"I-I'm sorry, Basil," Trinity laughed a bit at his expression. The lamb was too cute. He could see why Cyrus had stolen him, but it didn't make up for what he had done. The older would watch over the lamb like he was his precious baby. He'd have to show that he could do better than anything that Cyrus did. Humming, he allowed the lamb to hide his face, eyeing the hall in case of the alpha returning. "I won't, I won't. I get it. Trust me." Basil gripped his shirt, and he chuckled, patting his head. They would probably get along easily. The lamb seemed to enjoy the pups of the pack. Trinity stifled a laugh at his two little pups trying to open the door for him. "Oh, it's their way of teamwork. My babies are strong together. Don't worry so much. Thank you, puppies!" He cried to them.
-
"I will accept your apology. For now." The prince pouted at the other's laughter, huffing softly at him. He truly felt like a child compared to Trinity, not only because the wolf was an adult, but because of the fact that Basil knew he'd be stuck looking like a 'child' for a long time. There was an age difference, for sure, but the older appeared to still be in his twenties regardless. The lamb could deal with that, someone older but not too old. He smiled and reached up hug around Trinity's neck. "Okay, I'll trust you. But don't ever break it." Basil rested his head on the wolf's shoulder, waiting to be taken to the bathroom. Once he was clean, he wanted to curl up for a nap and had no doubt that the pups would join him. Their small voices and broken sentences could be heard below him where they clung to their father. It put the lamb at ease.
