"I don't remember the way back," he confessed. "I'm awful with directions. Besides, I want to head out early to my first class." He rubbed one eye sleepily as they walked out. He'd get the other boy to like his pets eventually, but first he had to realize that these snakes were like lazy, legless cats, not the vicious predators he was imagining. How did he even get into Slytherin if he was that afraid of snakes?
-
He decided to just continue walking, though he kind of wished that he wasn't having to drag Milo in tow everywhere. "I won't be able to help you with that, unless you have Arithmancy first." He led the way upstairs, and into the dining hall, which was far less formal than the night before for dinner. The seats were only half full, because technically you didn't have to go to breakfast and some students chose not to. Everyone was quite spread out, so he found a four-seat empty radius where he could sit and study, while getting a piece of bacon from a tall pile on a plate.
-
Milo didn't want to sit with someone unfamiliar, but he knew that Jasper wanted his space to study. He sat across from him, a few seats to his left, then retrieved his schedule after filling his plate. A couple of fifth years came in and sat near him, one girl glancing at him and back to her friends with silent disgust. Milo tried to ignore it as he took a bite of his eggs as read over the itinerary.
-
Jasper's schedule was bearable enough, except for his first and second classes. Arithmancy was not only the hardest course that he took, but he also had it with the fourth year Gryffindors who were also taking it. On top of that, it was on the seventh floor, and potions, which was his next class, was down in the dungeons. Sighing while thinking about this, he got out his Arithmancy book, and started studying up. Professor Vector was a menace, and she gave so many quizzes that Jasper could hardly manage to study for all of them before he had another.
-
His first class was outside. Being the first day of the new term, it was still cold in the morning, but this realization had not yet come to Milo. He was caught in an imaginative state, picturing himself caring for magical beasts of every sort. It was a glorious daydream, and he'd eventually forgotten all about the students next to him. Finishing his breakfast hurriedly, he rushed out to arrive early. He wanted to meet the teacher as soon as he could.
-
-
Jasper couldn't help but notice how quickly Milo managed to finish eating, and then left, and he was left wondering why he was in such a rush to get to a class that didn't start for another fifteen minutes. Shrugging to himself more mentally than physically, he went on studying until he had seven minutes to get to class, and then he finally rushed off to get to the seventh floor in time for Arithmancy.
-
He headed outside, the morning dew on the grass slowly seeping through his shoes. As Milo walked along he realized that there were quite a few things that he's missed the day before, so he paused by the lake to peer in. So this was what the Slytherin dorms looked out into. Noticing something large and potentially dangerous under the surface, he hurried off to get to class.
The newcomer was the first to arrive, and waited patiently near the hut that he assumed the teacher kept supplies in. After a few minutes, a large man with a thick beard walked over from the castle, yawning. "Professor Hagrid?" Milo asked, glancing down at his schedule.
"'Ullo, uh...," Hagrid paused, not recognizing the student.
"Milo. Milo Crosswick," he replied, beaming. He held out a hand, which was quickly enveloped in the professor's large one for a handshake.
"It's nice ter meet yeh, Milo, but wha' are yeh doin' here so early?" he asked, walking over to the door of the hut and opening it, letting out a dog who wandered off to relieve himself somewhere.
"I just wanted to introduce myself, Professor. Since I'm new and all." The two shared a brief smile, and were joined by the other students a few minutes after. -
(This is a really random question but is your new picture supposed to be Moon Moon)
He managed to make it to class just in time, taking his seat amongst a few other Slytherins in his year. One the other side of the room were the Gryffindors, who were all doing just the same as the Slytherins- studying their hearts out in the few moments before the professor got there, anticipating another pop quiz. When Vector came in, they all got exactly what they expected.
She sat down at her desk, waved her wand, and they were off. A quiz, question after question on papers that appeared magically on their desks, along with charmed quills. It wasn't too hard, as Jasper had studied, but he did get stumped on a few questions pertaining to the properties of the number 4. -
(yes. moon moon is gr8)
The boy listened eagerly as Hagrid started class, speaking loudly enough for the last students trekking over to hear. At first, he expected to have to introduce himself, but felt the slight worry over that disappear as the professor seemed to say nothing about it. He stood at the front of the pack, his classmates not as eager as he. Hagrid went on and on about his expectations for the term, eventually bringing his chatter to an end. He told the group that they'd start with something fairly easy-- a Bicorn, which he'd managed to have available for the class. Milo had no idea how. -
Within half an hour, the time for the quiz was over, and finished or not every paper disappeared and then reappeared in a stack on the front desk. Professor Vector got up from her seat, and got to walking around the room, forcing the students to turn their heads around just to listen to what she was talking about. They were moving on to the teens, now, after an entire semester of just single-digit numbers. Luckily, she promised that the teens were much easier. And everyone believed her, until they opened up their books to find that the section on teens was actually incomplete- no one knew everything about most of it, so in the class about predictions based on numbers, they would have to be doing a lot of predicting without the numbers.

(Poor Jasper omg. Also after the first day or so what do you think of time skipping a week so that we get more in??)
The class proceeded to where it was kept, Milo managing to stay in the lead the entire time. Hagrid asked the students to open their books to the part of Bicorns as he discussed them, occasionally pointing them to different bits of the section. He eventually got to asking the group some questions, many of which were answered by the newcomer. He could already tell that he was going to love the class. His mind drifted to his much less dangerous pets back in the dorms, and he realized that, if necessary, he could ask the professor to take care of them. -

(Yeah sure, after they go to sleep tonight?)
Professor Vector tried to explain as much as she could. She even added a few things that the book didn't include, and the class had to take notes on it. While this was easily one of the most difficult classes at Hogwarts- besides advanced Arithmancy- Jasper was actually kind of fond of it. Since it was about predictions, alot of the time he could argue his way into saying his answer was right. There weren't too many set rules, and that made the class very flexible, if a little difficult. -
(Okay.)
The lesson continued with some interaction with the creature, then moved to homework assignments and what would be discussed during the next class. As students headed back across the lawn toward the castle, Milo considered asking Professor Hagrid for help. He decided against it and hurried back, the last student to leave. He didn't want to get lost, so he tagged along with some other Slytherins to what he assumed would be Potions class. His first thought was that Jasper had the class as well, so he wouldn't be totally alone. It took the newcomer a moment to realize that, considering that the boy didn't really like him, he shouldn't have found much comfort in that fact. He really needed to start branching out.
