"It's not all clouds and fairies, ya know." Heaven stated, a hint of annoyance in his voice. Part of it was purposeful, to tease him with only a little bit of the reaction he desired. "It's pretty great though." He spoke with passion for his home. But he also had some pity for Harry. He would hate to be stuck in Hell for his life. He shivered a bit at the thought. He bit his lip, looking at Hell for a response.
-
"Well, isn't that a shame. No clouds and faeries? How do you live?" Harry asked, with sarcastic pity in his voice. "Oh, Hell's a joyride too. I mean, waiting in a line for all of eternity, and being eaten alive by three headed dogs every time you try to get in. Gotta love it."
-
"I do believe I got the better end of the deal on that one." Heaven stated with a laugh. "Oh, and there are clouds. And a golden gate. And angels. And large marble buildings. And it's always sunny. Yeah, it's definitely Utopia." Cassiel's eyes glittered with love for his home. Any time his eyes lit up like this, it meant he was talking about something that he loved and wouldn't trade the world for. It was a look that made his "innocent" look step up a noch.
-
Hell sent glares his way, listening to him brag about his home. He didn't understand the feeling of loving something so very deeply, and especially not about a home. "Aren't you just so lucky. I'm so happy for you. Blah, blah blah. Blah."
-
"Oh, don't be an ass now. Don't act like I don't pity you." Heaven stated, rashly. "I've given you plenty of pity and attention every meeting." He realized that they shouldn't be having small talk during a meeting, but Cassiel didn't care. The other nations didn't object, likely because they trembled in fear at the thought of Heaven and Hell, so Cassiel and Harry took the opportunity to go on and on talking. They only saw each other once every century, anyways. So they might as well take the opportunity, regardless what anyone else in the room might think. Their opinion was muted. Not one nation was brave enough to reprimand them, and that was probably for the best, anyways.
-
"I don't want your pity," Harry stated, leaning back in his seat and crossing his arms. "It won't do anything for me. But, I do enjoy your attention. Nothing I can do about that, I'm just selfish." He brought the cigarette to his lips, took a breath in, and then out. When he did, Vatican City made a small objection about it, mumbling something about it leaving a smell in the room.
"Diiid I ask for your opinion?" Harry asked, looking over at him. "Who the hell even are you? What the f--- is a Vatican City? How is a city a nation?" -
"I'm well aware that you enjoy my attention. You suck it up like a filthy sponge, you know?" Heaven teased, unable to resist. "And be nicer to Vatican City." He smirked, liking to order him around, even if it was just a little. In fact, Cassiel could hardly resist teasing him. It amused him. And believe it or not, he was actually quite fond of Harry. Despite their differences, of course. They both were quite old, in fact the same age, and although they changed through the centuries, they still were the same in a way. It made no sense and lots of sense at the same time. He wished they could spend more time together.
-
"I wouldn't say filthy. I think I'm quite a clean sponge," Harry decided with a shrug. He was still glaring at Vatican City, trying to figure him out. He snatched up the nation's label from the table, to read the description. "1929. So we never have met. Well, I'm Hell. Heaven, please, I'm making friends here. Don't say anything at all if you don't have something to contribute to the conversation," Harry chirped, smiling at Cassiel.
-
"You? Friends?" Heaven snorted, giving him a playful glare. "You don't have 'friends.' You have people who amuse you, people you take advantage of, and people that you hate. It's simple. I figured you out long ago." He stated with a smirk. He was in a very playful mood, and couldn't resist to keep talking. Normally he'd be polite and let the nations keep talking, but he decided against it today. Today he was talkative, playful and mischievous. He was enjoying himself for once. Instead of being focused, he was carefree. Cassiel liked it better this way, but knew it couldn't be like this forever.
-
Harry was admittedly a little... Prone to insult. He stared back at Heaven for a moment, deadpanned. "You're hardly any better than me. You ass-kiss all day to everyone, and that big old mighty god of your's. Everyone loves you, Cassiel, and you hardly even have to try. You just go around being your suck up self and you're good to go. I actually kind of am fond of you. But, if you think you don't fit under the friend category, I suppose that's fine."
-
Cassiel smiled at Harry. He didn't actually know what to say. "I'm sorry." Is all he could really have to say. He didn't know how to respond. Heaven frowned a little, glaring at the table. He felt bad for Harry. Like he thought early, Hell was a place full of torture, anger and fear. And he had a feeling Harry felt a lot of that. Meanwhile, Cassiel was up in paradise enjoying every minute of eternity. It wasn't always perfect- but always near that. He bit his lip a little at the thought. They had very different lives. It hurt him a little, he had to admit. "I'm fond of you too." He said gently, not looking up.
-
Harry scoffed, "I'm sure you are, Mr. Perfect." He was quite done trying to get Heaven's attention at that point, so he actually turned to face the nation that was talking. Now, it was about national debt, and who owed who money. Hardly very exciting, but, Heaven wasn't being any fun at all. Even when Cassiel said he was fond of him, Harry stayed facing forward, arms crossed and jaw set.
-
Heaven scoffed but said nothing more. He went back to quietly listening in, although he wasn't all that interested. He did, however realize how important this meeting was, so listening was the least he could do. Cassiel let his arms and hands rest in his lap, innocently looking up at whoever was talking. He could have such a child-like expression sometimes- and it was not uncommon for him to act like one, either. Growing a little restless, he switched positions in his chair. Cassiel couldn't get comfortable and it was irking him. He sighed, sitting with his left food on his right thigh to make a four shape with his body.
-
Harry was growing more and more bored with everything that was being said. The nations were being far to calm about their anger, and Harry could tell this was something they were angry about. He could play with that. He locked his eyes on the nation who was speaking, China, who was patiently informing America that he wanted his money. Harry kept his focus until China was shouting, and stood up out of his seat, and in turn America did too, and both nations were yelling. The Hellish nation, pleased with this, leaned back in his seat to observe.
-
Heaven knew he should probably stop the two nations from yelling with his calming, mediating personality, but he didn't. He was slightly interested on how this would turn out. He clasped his hands together, leaning back. Cassiel both watched and listened in, keeping a calm, blank face. He had no opinion on the matter- it didn't matter to him anyways. Why should it? Earth wasn't his problem. He was merely an observer.
