Ash waited until she had stretched on her tiptoes to get her textbook and closed the locker again before responding. She turned to Arturo and frowned. "Be careful what you say. In a few years, saying something like that to a five-year-old could get you in some serious trouble." She glared at him one more time and walked off. Feeling bad for doing so, she tossed a shy smile over her shoulder as she did so.
-
Arturo had never felt so defeated in his life before Ash said that. He sighed and pulled the hood of his onesie over his head, shoving his hands in the pocket of his onesie as he followed Ash. They had First Period English together, he kinda had to. He caught the shy smile and gave one back, still kinda down after what she had comeback with.
-
Ash was naturally a fast walker, but only for her size. People with long legs could walk normally and keep up with her, which she hated. She wasn't sure whether she wanted this to be the case with Arturo or not. Either way, she got to the classroom and sat down in the chair she had last time.
-
Arturo walked in after Ash and sat in the chair beside him like he had done on the first day. He took out his notebook and one of those pens that had so many colors to write with. The teacher walked in soon after they entered, his voice just as messed up as it was yesterday and even more wrinkles. "Morning, students. Today I just want you to work with your project with your partner." He said with a cough at the end and sat down at his desk. Arturo was sure he assigned the project just so he could be lazy and sit there, but oh well.
-
Ash sat confused. Whats to work on? We haven't been anywhere... She got out a notebook anyways and a few pencils and good erasers.
-
Arturo scooted his chair as close as possible to Ash's, laying his head on the younger's shoulder innocently and looking up at him through his lashes. "Ello, partner. Haven't seen you in a while," he joked with a grin on his face, the hood of his onesie still on his head. "I think I might just stay like this, your shoulder is rather comfortable."
-
Ash stared at him like he was on too many drugs. She turned to her notebook and sighed. "The hoodie has lots of padding, I'm sure." She knew this was a lie, however. Her foster parents wouldn't get her anything, and people didn't need a babysitter here. This hoodie was two years old and thinner than Arturo's onesie. She shrugged with her other shoulder and tried to focus on the assignment.
-
"Nah. Your shoulder is just really soft. Is the rest of you like that?" The last part slipped out before he had time to think it over and regretted it as soon as it came out. "Sorry, I didn't mean for that to come out..that way," He muttered, keeping his head where it was. He glanced at Ash's notebook. "What do we have so far, partner?" He asked quietly, looking up at the beautiful boy.
-
Ash jerked her head in surprise at the comment and seriously started to worry about him. She relaxed a little at the apology and turned to her notebook. "Nothing yet. We have to think of a way to present. This is just me, but everybody else is probably going to do poster or folding display like at a science fair. So we should do something really different... And weird." She shrugged. "But it's whatever.."
-
Arturo had to hold back a smile when he felt the younger relax. "We can do whatever way you want to present. Different is good..I like different," he said softly, closing his eyes as he thought. He was actually really comfortable resting on the younger's shoulder and could probably fall asleep if someone turned the lights off. He had his eyes closed just cause it helped him think better. "It's not whatever. I want it to be good.."
-
Ash nodded. "Yeah... But what..? She thought for a minute before sketching something in her notebook.
-
Arturo opened his eyes and watched as Ash began to sketch something in her notebook. "Do you like to, you know, actually draw? Like you know, those things you see in art museums?" He asked as he watched the younger. He leaned against the younger a little more, his feet in his chair by now and basically laying sideways.
-
Ash chuckled and shook her head. "No, but I think it would be fun to. Not enough money in it, though. No, I just know how to sketch because I took a beginner nursing class two years ago. We basically had to sketch every part of the human anatomy. Skin, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, bones..."
-
Arturo shivered a little. "I hate anything that has to do with the human body. I have hemophobia, the fear of blood, and cartilogenophobia, fear of bones. They make me sick just thinking about them, I don't know why.." He said with a sigh. "You seem to be pretty great at it, actually. Nursing and all."
-
Ash smiled a little at that. "Good thing you got hit on the /back/ of your head, then, hmm?" She shrugged. "I ought to be after nine years. It's a good field.. Difficult, good money, helping people." She absentmindedly tapped her pencil on the desk as she thought about her biological parents and that whole mess.
