Landon gasped and gripping the bed sheets with one of his hands, biting his tounge to keep from crying out. He didn't know what was worse; getting hit with the harsh leather or having to deal with the aftermath. "He said..he would..do it..again..tommorow.." His words were spaced out, shaky.
-
She solemnly shook her head. "Don't worry about that now. Just try to fall asleep, it'll be alright." She she kept dabbing and changing the cloth as needed. Infections were only worse.
-
Landon bit down on bottom lip, his breaths slowly becoming even. He shut his eyes but stayed awake.
-
Ann continued to pat his shoulder a little while continuing with the alcohol. She set the cloths on the table and leaned down to whisper. "Worst is over. It'll start to feel good now." She took the salve and rubbed it into her hands, making sure it was all even. She slowly traced the edges of Landon's cut, being careful to not actually touch the actual cut, but getting close.
-
Landon waited patiently for the stinging to stop, and nodded slightly at what Ann said. He turned his head slightly to look at her but the salve on her hands, chewing in his bottom lip. He turned his head back and looked down at the bed, relaxing when the traced the edges of the cut.
-
After making sure the whole wound got the salve, she gently rubbed the antibacterial smelly stuff in, using small circles. Once that was done, she wiped her fingers off and prepared the gauze. "How are you feeling?"
-
Landon turned his head to look at Ann, and gave her a small closed mouth smile. "I feel..okay." It wasn't the complete truth, but it wasn't a lie either. The salve had definitely helped some.
-
Ann "hmmph"ed and applied the gauze pad to his wound. She taped it down and asked "can you sit up a little? I need to wrap it.."
-
Landon sat up slowly, adjusting so he sat criss cross on the large bed. He ran one hand through his dark hair, sighing. "I'm gonna fall asleep," he said, half jokingly, and flashed her a grin.
-
She chuckled and blushed lightly. "I'm counting on it." She took the wrap material and sat directly behind him. She reached around him to start at his stomach, then around to his back, and continuing like that in order to keep the gauze pad on. Circles and circles of wrapping, and her trying not to blush at how close they were.
-
Landon rolled his eyes, and sat completely still as she wrapped the gauze around him multiple times to keep it on. "It's funny.." Landon said, smirking. "I thought that I was going to have to be the one to protect you. Seems like you've got that covered, don't you?" He laughed lightly. "For both you and I."
-
Ann smiled lightly and shook her head. "Nah, I'm just the cleaning lady. I take care of the aftermath." She came to the end of the roll and secured it to his side with three of those metal-do-bopper-thingies (official term). She pulled at the wrap at several random points and was satisfied with the tightness of it. "You're all set."
-
Landon turned around to look at her when she was finished, tilting his head slightly. "The aftermath, huh? I'll remember that." He glanced over at the bedside clock. "It almost ten o'clock. Go to sleep." He leaned foward and gave Ann a small kiss on the cheek before crawling under the covers.
-
She nodded once to keep him quiet, then grabbed the cleaning stuff and left, her cheeks a bright red shade. She didn't go to bed right away, instead stayed up another hour and a half cleaning up the blood and dinner. She rearranged everything and put things where they belonged, finally crawling into bed just before midnight.
-
Landon stayed awake for a little while, staring at the wall. Finally, after some time, he drifted into a deep sleep.
