Ann sighed and sunk deep into the couch. "I don't care anymore. This place is already hell. Might as well go out smiling....even just a little." She thought to the other girl- she couldn't even remember the name now- who killed herself in such a wonderful manner it brought emotional pain to her oppressors. Now that was an honorable death.
-
Landon took his water bottle and shut the fridge, walking back into the living room and sitting down on the carpet floor, glancing at the telly. "You got the real channels to work? Nice," he said softly. Matthew shrugged. "Might as well, I guess."
-
Ann ignored the guys talking, already staring off into the distance, planning her own seppuku. She thought she was tapping a fingernail against her wrist, but as her thoughts went deeper, so did the fingernail. She didn't realize just how hard she was scratching herself, even when the first layer of skin broke, almost causing it to bleed.
-
Landon stared at the news anchor on the telly for a few moments, she was talking about some shark attacks, before turning his attention to the girl on the couch. He watched in interest as she tapped her fingernail against her tiny wrist, but that changed to concern when he saw her digging into her skin. "Ann, stop that. You're hurting youself," Landon said with a frown.
-
"Don't pretend to care" she murmured absentmindedly. About a minute later, however, she glanced down at where blood was ready to spurt from. This could work...
-
"You think I don't care? I just went out for the day with that horrid man and was forced to get these," he pointed at the snake bites. "Just so I could get these~" He reached into the pocket of his skinny jeans and pulled out a key chain with three different keys on it. "Cellar, house, car."
-
Ann stared at all the things and, after a minute, went back to gazing at the wall. "That horrid man you call 'Daddy'?" She could almost feel herself make a disgusted face at the thought of that man ever being good enough for 'Daddy'.
-
Landon rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Doesn't matter what you want to call the little b----, what matters is that I can get us out of here now and this time we won't be caught." Matthew was looking on in amazement. "Dude, that's sick." He said after a few moments with a grin, fist bumping Landon.
-
Ann would have loved the idea, but she had just gotten done bashing someone to make herself feel better for something he didn't do. That done, she didn't feel very cheerful, and couldn't help shaking her head. "He'll find us again. And it'll be worse than last time. Last time was..." She shuddered and hid her face in her knees.
