Ann jogged to the kitchen and grabbed paper towels and water. She dropped to her knees and set them on the floor beside Landon, taking gentle hold of his shoulders and bending down to look at him. "Oh god..Landon.." She gently brushed his hair from his face and searched his pained eyes with her own set of worried. "I'm so sorry..."
-
Landon shook his head slowly and took in a shaky breath. "Don't...be.." He looked at Ann, his normally bright eyes dull and lifeless. "Don't worry..about it." He said, shaking his head again. His back felt like it was on fire, like someone was holding a lighter to it. Landon slowly pulled his hand up and cupped Ann's cheek in his hand. "It's..fine..don't.."
-
She brought her finger up and pressed it against his lips. "Shhh, it's alright. I understand.." She reached over and grabbed his shirt from the couch and offered it to him. "Bite," she ordered. She grabbed the paper towels and tore off a few, then wet them with the water she had. "This is going to sting."
-
Landon sighed but took the shirt. Resting his forehead against the wall, he put a small piece of his shirt into his mouth, ready to bite down if so needed.
-
Ann gently dabbed at the wound; she knew enough to not rub. Every now and then, she would dip her hand in the water and let it trickle over Landon's back, washing away the blood. Glad that it wasn't a sucking wound, she stopped for a minute to check on the boy.
-
Landon gasped and bit down at the first touch, but the horrible stinging and burning slowly went away. For some reason, the pain was making him sleep, so he closed his eyes. Not knowing whether he was really tired or going unconscious from the pain, he bit down on the shirt, fighting to stay awake until she was finished.
-
Ann felt him relax and frowned. She set the paper towels down and scooted around to face him. "Don't quit yet. Stay up a little longer..." She hesitated a split second before placing a gentle kiss on his forehead, then going back to his cut.
-
Landon opened his eyes slightly when Ann kissed him on the forehead and kept them open. His head felt light, and he felt dizzy, but he decided to stay awake.
-
Ann quickly finished with the rest of his cut, making sure the bleeding had slowed. She shoved the cleaning stuff away and turned to face him again. "Can you walk to your room? I'll help.."'
-
Landon shook his head and slowly stood, removing the shirt from his mouth. He walked over to his room, ignoring the slight stinging in his back that he felt with every step he took. Landon walked straight to his bed and crawled into it, falling asleep in a matter of seconds.
-
Ann tried to help, but he seemed to want to do it alone, so she stayed out of it. She went to the bathroom and dumped the water out, then found some isopropyl, cream, and gauze in the cabinets. She grabbed them all and went to Landon's room to fix him up.
-
Landon kept dozing off then waking up, the pain causing him to do both. He was awake and his breaths somewhat shaky when the girl walked into his bedroom. Landon layed down on his side and faced her.
-
Ann sat in the edge of his bed and prepped the stuff. "Turn over" she said gently. "It needs to be cleaned properly." She looked down at him and held her wrist to his forehead.
-
Landon sighed and turned so his stomach was pressed against the bed. He propped his chin up with his hands, waiting patiently. He knew it would probably hurt and he was dead tired. Landon's eyes opened and shut quite a few times.
-
Ann dripped the alcohol on a cleaning cloth and held it just above the cut. She gently placed her left hand on his shoulder before dabbing the cut with the cloth. It was no longer bleeding, so now it was time to sanitize the wound.
