An hour later, the scientist was finished. He'd decided to use the dog after all- it fit the boy quite nicely. At the end of the operation, when the boy had both ears and a tail, and slightly altered instincts, one of the burly men heaved him up from the table, shaking him awake. "Wake up, wake up!" The scientist called.
Jeremy made sure that the hybrid never strayed too close to the road as they walked, but he grew a little confused when they went off the main path. "Ray, are you sure this is it...?" -
Tae woke up to a man picking him up off a table. He rubbed his eyes and blinked multiple times, trying to get used to the bright light. Tae balanced his feet on the ground, feeling kinda dizzy.
Raymond nodded and all of a sudden went sprinting down the dirt road, running towards the scent. -
"Perfect," the scientist hummed, when Tae awoke. "Take him to a cage, please. Actually- pair him up with Charles. And lock it." The man holding Tae nodded, and carried him to the room of cages. He dumped Tae into the space with Charles, who was fast asleep but shivering.
"Hey!" Jeremy shouted, chasing after Raymond. "Slow down!" -
Tae was so confused. When he was thrown into the cage, he recognized Charles. "C-Charles?" Why am I stuttering? He gently poked Charle's shaking back, wanting to wake him up. When he pulled away from the cat hyrbid, he sat down on his tail. Tae let out a yelp and gasped when he saw the tail.
Raymond shook his head and kept running, a building coming into view. -
Charles jumped at the touch, his eyes shooting open. He stared at Tae, taking a moment to sniff the air. Dogdogdog- but where? He focused, and realized it was Tae who smelled like a dog, and had ears like one too. He screamed, hearing a laugh from outside the cage, and pressed himself as far away from Tae as he could. "D-d-does not l-li-like d-dogs!"
Jeremy was huffing, trying to keep up with the hybrid who was much faster than him. He tried, but failed, and lagged far behind. -
Tae frowned and pulled st his own tail. It was very clearly real. He ran his hands through his hair and found the ears. "O-Oh.." Tae pushed himself away from Charles, into the corner. He hated when Charles was upset, so he stayed away from him. "S-S-Sorry.."
Raymond sighed and ran back to Jeremy. He knelt down in front of him. "P-Piggy B-Back?" -
(sorry to interrupt but pssssst zane you said psssst)
-
Charles couldn't help but be absolutely terrified of Tae, now, especially after what had happened hardly an hour before with the other dog. He whimpered, crying, and shouting at the scientist who was laughing. "L-l-l-let o-out!" He cried, but he scientist just shook his head and left the room.
Jeremy was a little embarrassed to take the offer, but he was so tired from walking and running that he was hardly able to take another step. So he sighed, and nodded, climbing obligingly onto Raymond. -
Tae flattened his ears and frowned. It upset him to see that Tae was so afraid of him. Pulling his knees up to his chest, tears began to roll down Tae's cheeks. He pressed his face against his knees, no longer wanting to see Charles so frightened.
Raymond made sure Jeremy wouldn't fall off then started sprinting. The scent was getting stronger, and a building was coming into his view. -
Charles realized he was stuck in the cage no matter who he begged, so he turned, facing Tae, but not moving any closer. "T-Ta-Tae smells l-li-like d-d-d--" he whined, frowning at the thought.
Jeremy held on tight, looking ahead at the building. He'd never seen it, but if it was a hybrid lab, he wondered if Raymond had. -
Tae looked up and rested his chin on his knees. "I-I'm S-S-Sorry..." He pulled his knees closer to his chest, feeling self conscious. Tae sighed and closed his eyes. I don't want to be a hyrbid. It's too..weird.
A few minutes later, the reached the building. Raymond loosened his grip on Jeremy and pointed at the building. "T-There." -
Charles was too afraid to move closer to Tae, but he decided he would at least not try to run away anymore.
Jeremy slid off of Raymond's back, sighing and looking at the brick building. "In here?" -
Tae stared at Charles for a long while before attempting to speak to him. "C-Charles? I-I w-won't h-h-hurt y-you.." Tae reached one arm out towards the frightened cat hybrid. "C-Charles?"
Raymond nodded quickly. But now, there was only a faint scent of vanilla. Raymond smelled cat. He looked over at the entrance that had two guards preventing anyone from getting in. Raymond looked up at Jeremy. "I-I a-a-am h-hybrid. I-I go i-in?" -
Charles shook his head, pressing his back against the cage again. "S-scary d-d-"- he would have continued, but a metal canister in the corner of the cage started flashing with a red light. He knew what it meant- if he spoke, then the man inside the box would spray him with water. He whimpered, holding his finger to his lips to quiet Tae.
Jeremy shook his head, quickly, grabbing Raymond's hand. "No, we'll find another way in, you'll get taken away." -
Tae brought his arm back to his chest, sighing. There was no use, Charles was downright terrified of him. Tae closed his eyes, wondering how long they would be kept in this cage. Tae reopened his eyes and watched the red light flash.
Raymond sighed. "F-F-Fine.." Looking around, he searched for a way inside besides the door.
