Marco, too, leaned forward and got a piece of bacon. He munched on it gladly, savoring the rich, crispy taste. Kayleigh couldn't help but giggle at the two hybrids, who seemed to really be enjoying eating human food.
-
Lucas hummed happily. "Mmm, this is amazing," he said between bites, munching as he watched Olivia help Brynn down off her chair and into tiny purple sneakers. Olivia kissed Kayleigh, waved to the hybrids, and then she and Brynn were out the door.
-
Marco nodded, to agree with Lucas, and snatched up another piece of bacon. He waved goodbye to Brynn, and then continued eating. Kayleigh sat down at the table, but generally wasn't a breakfast person, so only had a slice of bacon. "Don't forget to drink your milk too, boys."
-
Lucas nodded, obediently taking a sip of his drink. "So where are we going today?" he asked curiously. He was familiar with a decent amount of human things, but he wasn't sure where they'd be getting new clothes. He'd never been shopping in the pet store.
-
Marco did as Lucas, picking up his glass. He'd never used one before, but he'd had water bottles, and Lucas to model it correctly for him. So he drank the milk, which was also rather new, licking his lips afterwards. "To the mall," Kayleigh said. "You'll see when we get there. That's where the pet store is, or at least, the one that has all the stuff that you guys need. You might see other hybrids there, but it'll mostly be people."
-
Lucas nodded. They'd had things like that at his pet shop, specially made clothes for the hybrids with tails. Although regular clothes worked as well, they could get a little uncomfortable. "Will we have to wear leashes to the mall?" Lucas asked, sounding slightly worried. He didn't mind, but Marco would probably hate a collar and leash.
-
Marco was fine until she started talking about all the people that would be there, and then Kayleigh said, "Yes, sorry. We'll be kicked out if you don't wear a leash." Marco lost all 'alrightness' with going to the mall right then, shaking his head and crossing his arms. "I don't want to go, no," he stated. Kayleigh looked at him with worry, concerned that it would be harder to get him out of the house than she thought. "You have to try on the clothes for me to buy them, I don't know which size you wear."
-
Lucas frowned. "Marco, it'll only be for a little while, it'll be okay. You can stick by me, the other people will leave you alone," he offered, hoping to persuade him.
-
Marco considered it for a second, then shook his head again. "I won't wear a leash, it'll pull on my neck and hurt, and people will try to touch my ears, and call me a cat. I don't want to go."
-
Lucas reached out and took his hand, smiling softly. "I'll protect you. Besides, I'm sure Kayleigh won't pull too hard. Please?" he asked with a little wag of his tail.
-
Marco was still pouting, his bottom lip stuck out. But he trusted Lucas to keep him safe, and Kayleigh quickly agreed that she'd be gentle. Marco relunctantly nodded, "Okay."
-
Lucas cheered and squeezed his hand. "Thanks, I'm sure it won't be so bad." He gave Kayleigh a grateful nod across the table, happy they'd gotten Marco to agree.
-
Marco chuffed, but wasn't really mad, just a little nervous. He scooted his chair as close to Lucas as he could, and set his head on his shoulder. Kayleigh got up, walked to the living room, and a moment later returned with two leashes and collars. "We're going to get going soon, do you want to put these on?" She immediately held them both out to Lucas. "They're not hard to figure out." Then, she went off upstairs to get ready.
-
Lucas nodded, slipping his own collar on without any trouble and clipping the leash on. He turned to Marco and smiled. "Your turn!"
-
Marco swallowed his distaste for the collar, and took the items from Lucas. He clipped them both on, and looked down at the leash in his hand. "I don't like it," he grumbled.
