Luke plopped down in the chair, hanging his backpack on the back of it. He sat criss-cross applesauce after pushing himself closer to the edge of the table. He wasn't much of a lunch eater, or a breakfast eater. He preferred a nice dinner and that was pretty much it.
-
Jack did not feel like eating either. "So..." Jack began, "What do you like to do in your free time?"
-
"I usually just play guitar, write, read, and sometimes, every once in a while, I'll go to the animal shelter. I really do like soccer, and wanted to try out for the team, but...everyone there isn't nice, so no. What about you?" he explained and questioned.
-
"Well, i like to write stories, and explore the neighborhood and go exploring the mountains. I also like to write in a journal sometimes, when i need to let down my emotions." Jack did not tell many people he writes down his emotions and feelings.
-
Luke almost said something about the mention of a journal, but chose not to. "I could never go in the mountains. Too afraid. That's really, really cool, though." He felt a teeny tiny knot twisting in the bottom of his stomach. He was probably just excited.
-
"Yeah, it's kind of a risk to go into the mountains alone... but i take the risk anyways. once you get past the fear of exploring the mountains, it is actually quite fun." Jack smiled.
-
"Do you free climb or do you use the special equipment?" He knew of a few people who free climbed, all except one who had injured themselves in the process of learning. Maybe we could go together one day, he thought, feeling stupid for event thinking as such.
-
"hmm, i do a little bit of both." Jack replied.
-
"That's even cooler." He gave a derpy grin, twiddling his thumbs nervously. Keeping a conversation was one of the hardest things, apparently. He gentlu nibbled at his top lip.
-
Jack knew how to keep a conversation going, even at the dullest moments. "So, what kind of music do you listen to?" He asked.
-
"Oh, a lot of eighties metal. Stuff like Metallica, Slayer, Bon Jovi. They were amazing at keeping alive on stage...And then, a lot of piano songs with nice vocals. You?" He liked that he got to voice his interests without the fear of being belittled taking over.
-
"Hmm, i like old rock. And some bands i enjoy are Queen, Nirvana, Greenday. A lot of those bands have music beats that are enjoyable to listen to. I also like to listen to a lot of instrumental music, when i am not in the mood for hearing singing... just music." Jack smiled.
-
Luke leaned against the table with a grin. "Nirvana is a good band. What kind of instrumentals?" he questioned, wondering if he was into some kind of classical music. If so, he would be impressed, to an extent, since not many kids their age listened to instrumentals, that he knew of, anyways.
-
"Guitar, Piano, Flute, Violin." Jack said, in response to Luke's question.
-
"Pretty," he said simply, glancing over his shoulder with a worried face. He calmed down once he realized that no one was actually there. Returning his focus to Jack, he asked, "What types of things do you write about?"
