*Out of nowhere, a sharp pain started to creep up her side. "Ugh....not again..." she groaned, putting her head to her hand.
-
Anne led the girl into the living room gingerly, and had her sit down on the couch. The first few transformations were always the worst, as she remembered.
-
Everly's breathing heavied, and every muscle in her body felt like it was on fire. After about 30 seconds of gasping out in pain, she closed her eyes and opened them to find herself in her snow white wolf form.
-
"Her fur is pretty," Lyall commented. He knelt down and stroked her side. "I know transforming is painful at first, but how long do you think you can stay a wolf?" he asked.
-
She smiled in her mind a bit. Everly closed her eyes and concentrated on something, shifting back. "I don't know....but I know that if I close my eyes and concetrate on something human, I can switch back."
-
"Interesting," he murmured, and looked at Anne. "It's different for all of us, isn't it?"
-
She turned her head towards Anne.
-
Anne nodded. "It took me weeks to transform back. Then one night, there was a huge thunderstorm. When I went outside the next morning, I transformed back. For me, it's petrichor."
-
"Wow that's...a long time. I guess it's a good thing that it rains alot here." she commented. "What about you?" she asked Lyall, turning towards him.
-
"There was this ice cream store in town when my brother and I were kids. Usually, it's remembering how the bell sounded on the door." He stood and sat next to her on the couch.
-
She smiled softly. "How long ago was that?"
-
"I'm not sure, exactly. Late nineteenth century, probably. We lived with my uncle on his farm." He grinned a bit, reminiscing.
-
"It must of been nice back then...." she commented.
-
He shrugged. "It had its perks."
-
"I bet." she said, leaning back on the couch. "So, where's the rest of the pack?"
