She blushed more and shook her head. "I don't think you can prove it to me..."
Alexander's face fell a bit and he sighed lightly, mumbling. "Get out if you want to keep safe then..." he looked away from her, hurt was on his face. He wanted to show her that he was able to protect her, but she wasn't listening. -
David tried to ignore the slight pang in his chest when she said that. She was only a human. But why did he care about her so much? He sighed, feeling more than a little conflicted. "Do you really want me gone? If it makes you feel better I'll go."
Shay stood up off the bed, feeling like she was about to cry. She hadn't meant to hurt him, but if he got injured and it was her fault...She wouldn't be able to handle it. She leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. "I love you. But I need you to be safe." She leapt off the balcony and flew off into the night before he could respond. -
Dawn panicked a bit. "No!" She looked up at him and blushed deeply. "N-no...please don't leave me..." she didn't understand what she was saying to him, but she felt like he needed to stay. "Just don't...leave me..."
He didn't go after her, for the first time in his immortal life he felt empty, like a shell of what he was when she left. He numbly walked out of his room, already being haunted by the memories he had with her in the condo. He just wanted it to burn, of course everything did bend to his will and the place slowly started to catch fire. -
David sighed and gently kissed her forehead. "I won't leave you." He promised with a nod.
Shay flew aimlessly for what seemed like hours, though it could've only been minutes. She didn't know. She didn't care. Tears streamed down her face, blurring her vision. Eventually she collapsed into a dark alley. It was cruel irony that she had fallen into the very alley where she and Alexander had first met. -
She blushed more and buried her face into his chest. "Thank you..." she whispered lightly as she held onto him before falling asleep in his arms.
Alexander was still in the blaze at his condo when he heard the sirens coming his way as they screeched to a hault. He frowned lightly and escaped out of a window, out of site of the humans. If she ever did come back, there was nothing left of the condo. Human water couldn't put out heavenly fire. -
"...Why do I feel so protective of you, hm?" He whispered to her sleeping form. He gently brushed a stray lock of hair from her face and set her down on the bed. He lied down beside her, propping his head up on an arm and watching her. She looked so peaceful as she slept, so innocent...
"That's her," A rough, gravelly voice broke through the silence as three silhouettes filled the entrance to the alley. "The one who mingles with the angels." They laughed. "Half-breed scum." One spat at her. Shay didn't move, didn't even look at them, until one stepped forward and grabbed her. He was a demon, like herself, but much more powerful. Older and stronger. He pinned her to the wall and smirked with crooked teeth. "Kiss me." Shay stubbornly shook her head, looking frightened. "You kissed the angel, what could be worse than that? So kiss me..." -
She slept peacefully next to him, her mouth slightly open as she breathed calmly, mumbling in her sleep about random things.
Alexander was flying around when he felt the skip of demonic energy, three skips in an alleyway near him. He frowned a bit as he flew down a bit closer, seeing Shay being held against a wall. Anger flowed through him as he summoned his sword, dropping down quickly and slicing the demon that was holding her to the wall down the middle. -
David sighed and let his head relax onto the bed as well. He was soon fast asleep beside her, one arm draped loosely over her waist protectivley.
The other two demons hissed and lunged at him, their claws and wings appearing. One of them tried to attack Alexander, but was blocked by Shay, whose wings and claws were also visible. "L-Leave!" She called to him. "I can handle this!" -
She sighed happily and snuggled into his chest and mumbled more in her sleep.
Alexander said nothing as he sliced one of the two demons in half as he watched he body burn to ashes. He saw the last demon move towards Shay quickly. "NO!" He shot over quickly and got in the way of he attack, his wounds appearing on his chest. -
David pulled her close to him, mumbling incoherently.
Shay shrieked in surprise when she saw the last demon lunge at her. She stood frozen to the spot as Alexander leapt in front of her, shielding her from the attack. Her eyes were wide and she was trembling slightly as she stumbled back. -
Dawn blushed lightly in her sleep, smiling lightly.
Alexander winced lightly but saw his sword went straight through the demon's chest, the demon soon disintegrated quickly into ash. He fell to his knees and started breathing heavily. he had a X slash in his chest and left cheek. The sun was starting to slowly rise. -
"A-Alexander..." Shay whimpered his name and bent down, trying to help him stand. They needed to get back to the apartment, she needed to heal him... This is exactly what she had been afraid of...
-
Of course morning came and Dawn woke up slowly, seeing David had wrapped his arms around her. She blushed deeply and got out of his grip. She looked at him, the light from the window shone through lightly and it looked perfect. She grabbed the sketch pad near her as she started drawing carefully.
He stood up and glanced at Shay. He smiled lightly and hugged her, holding her close to him and fully ignoring his wounds. "You're safe...they didn't hurt you I'm glad..." tears started falling from his eyes and landing onto her. -
David shifted slightly, but didn't wake up completely. He mumbled something and let out a small yawn, looking much younger and more innocent.
"T-This is exactly what I was afraid of!" She shouted, still trembling. She hugged him tightly and burst into tears. "Y-Y-You're hurt because of m-me..." -
She kept working on the sketch carefully, capturing him in the paper and finally got lost in the drawing.
Alexander mumbled lightly and ran his hand slowly through her hair. "I wanted to protect you Shay...please don't cry..."
