Saphirre fell silent for a moment, but then decided it was best to tell him. She took a deep breath and began. "Well...to them I wasn't a person. Only an experiment. My pain didn't matter to them, as long as they got their data." She explained. "I was one of the only healthy offspring to survive from the human and animal breeding project, so naturally they wanted to learn everything about me. How I reacted to certain things, how easily broken I was compared to humans." She paused and closed her eyes, an almost pained expression on her face. "How I reproduced. T-They forced me, I d-didn't want to do it..." She looked on the verge of tears now. "S-So many times.."

He hugged her close to him and tried to calm her down. "Saphirre I'm sorry I asked. I-I'm sorry..." he didn't want to see her cry or have such a pained expression on her face. He was so stupid, just stupid to ask her about what they did.

She sniffed and shook her head, although a few tears fell. "I-It's okay. You deserve to know..." She pressed close to him, trying to ward off the painful memories.

He hugged her tightly and nuzzled her neck lightly. "I'm s-still sorry...I should have asked later on, when the memories weren't so fresh still. He kissed her forehead gently.

She swiped at her eyes. "I-I'm fine. B-Besides, I'm safe now, r-right?" She looked at him anxiously. "I d-don't want to go b-back..." Her voice was shaky.

He smiled at her, kissing her cheek gently and wipping the rest of her tears away. "You'll never go back Saphirre, I'm never going to let them take you from me." He looked at her. "You're safe here and they won't ever take you back there again."

She sniffed again and nodded. "G-Good." She kept her eyes closed and leaned against him, stifling a yawn.

He kissed her forehead gently and hugged her close to him, yawning lightly. He chuckled and glanced down at her. "Yawning is contagious, you know that right?"

She glanced up at him sleepily. "Really..?" She was cut off by a yawn of her own and giggled softly. "Oh. I guess you're right."

He laughed lightly and hugged her happily. "I think we should get some sleep..." he pulled the cover over them and soon felt himself start to fall asleep.

She snuggled up to him and nuzzled into his chest. "Mm hmm..." A few seconds later she was already asleep.

He blushed deeply and hugged her close to him protectively in his sleep. He fell asleep soon after her and was breathing calmly.

Saphirre slept dreamlessly. The almost-constant nightmares that had plagued her at the lab had been kept away ever since Daniel had found her, and she slept especially peacefully now, in his arms.

Of course, when morning came, so did the sound of the alarm. He pressed the snooze button and soon started to fall back asleep.

Saphirre jumped awake at the alarm and blushed, still pressed against Daniel. She saw him start to fall back asleep and smiled a little. She rose and tried to slip out of the bed without disturbing him.
