"Where I'm from, those are not creatures you keep with you." Everything was more peaceful and in better shape here. It was nice.
-
She paused at a gate with a nice driveway leading to a nice, modern looking house. Flowers lined the driveway, mostly roses, and weeping willows rose from the ground all across the property, some with windchimes in them, some with birdhouses, and others with benches under them.
She pushed open the gate, looking back at him "Is that so?" -
The house was nicer than anywhere he'd ever lived. He was slightly in awe as he walked through the gates. "They will attack you if you go near them."
-
"Well, there are some dogs like that, but not around here. And definitely not my Lanny." She smiled, walking up the driveway to the house. She took the key off the chain around her neck and unlocked the door.
-
"Thank you for letting me join you here. I will leave as soon as I can." He didn't mention that he'd be leaving with her, by force if he had to.
-
"Yeah, no problem." She sighed. As soon as she walked in, she took off Lan's leash, and refilled his water bowl, then turned to Optis. "What kind of name is Optis, anyway?"
-
"It's regular for where I'm from, trust me." He smiled a bit.
-
"And where is this place you're from, exactly?" She said, taking a seat at the kitchen table and motioning for him to do the same.
-
He sat down, then took out the parts of the glasses. "It's... hard to explain, really."
-
"At least try." She said, blinking at the pieces of glass.
-
He sighed. "I'm from this exact place. Two hundred and fifty years later." His tone was entirely serious, as was his expression.
-
"....Oh god you're insane."
-
He shook his head. "What do I have to do to make you believe me? I'm here because I had to save you. And we would be getting back right now, if it weren't for my machine getting broken." He started messing with the glasses.
-
"Uh...huh. So, hypothetically speaking as if I actually believe you, why save me? I'm just a random girl."
-
"Let's just say that in about a century, this entire country is taken over by a tyrannic leader whose family is constantly in power. The the current ruler, the first ruler's great-grandson, has decided that he now has the ability to destroy towns and communities if they don't abide by his laws or if they show the slightest hint of rebellion. My home is the next to be destroyed. We've figured out that you would actually be the best choice to take him down. We, as in, the rebel group that I helped start." He sighed. "You're the only hope that we know of, Nina."
