"I figured", I placed my cup on the table, "And you don't age cause in a way your dead yet alive..?"
-
"Because I'm an angel. We never die." He watched the violent waves.
-
I looked at him and smiled sadly, "Y'know, your very brave"
-
"What makes you say that?" he murmured, smirking a little.
-
"Hmmm...well brave wouldn't be the right word for it, emotionally and mentally strong I think would be better...", I watched the storm, and said in a soft somber tone, "A person can't help connecting to others in their lifetime, and you watch everyone grow old and die while you stay in the same spot. But I guess you stay away from humans then, yes? But, I think one would go mad, watching the same cycle and pattern over and over again. In time, you'd learn to hate humanity for our stupidity, greed, hunger for power. Watch the seedling grow into a blossum and be crushed by death which looms over all, but your left out of it", I looked at him, "Though I'm just guessing here"
-
He nodded. "You're very smart."
-
"Thank you", I looked at him, "So...would it be bad if I asked how do you deal with it?"
-
"Well," he muttered, "up until two years ago, I traveled. It made sense. A young man, taking a year or two off from school to see the world. Eating isn't really necessary for me, so money wasn't really an issue. I flew everywhere, and was gone within a month of arrival. No one really got to know me, and that was fine."
-
"And you got to see the world and do something, I suppose that's a good way to deal with it"
-
"I did actually go to college though after a seventy, eighty year break. Believe it or not, I was extremely popular with women at that time... Not sure what happened." He smirked, reminiscing.
-
"Really? No!", I laughed jokingly, giving him a fake skeptic look, "Hmmm...", I looked at him, pretending to examine him, "You must've lost it then, I wonder what was so attractive"
-
"Usually they ran away though as soon as they saw my shirtless. Liked the front, hated the back." He rolled his eyes. "It wasn't necessarily physical, but I could show you if you want to find out."
-
I nodded my head, "Okay", I was curious, how could they be scared of wings?
-
He pulled his shirt off, stretching out his wings enough for her to see his entire back. He turned so he wasn't facing her, and allowed her to view the erratic scars tracing his back. In some places, the scars were more like burns than slashes from the claws of some vicious beast.
-
"Oh..", I breathed out, so it wasn't just wings. I reached out my hand, gently touching one of the scars or was it really a burn? "What is their story?"
