Luna: Does Lucinda actually mean bringer of light in Latin?
Finchy, the nickname has to make sense. Heather doesn't relate to the name or translation, so give her a nickname like Opa or something.) -
(It means, Light, Illuminate, and Bringer of Light. When I found it, it said bringer of light so I used that. I looked it up again after and those three meaning came up.)

Luna woke up and yawned. She was in her room at the Gem Academy. Pup was downstairs, in the dragon stables.
All fairies 6 months and up stay there until 10 months. It's a large hollow metal tree. Fairies 4 months and below go to Color Prep, where they are prepared for getting colors. It's a large bronze shrub with emerald leaves that make classrooms. 5 month fairies go to the DTA (Dragon Training Arena) where they spend one month bonding and training with their dragons.) -

She pushed herself out of bed and dressed simply: a dark blue t shirt and black leggings. Her watery hair tumbled freely down her shoulders.

Lucinda got out of bed and walked over to her closet. She glanced at her schedule for Gem Academy. First she had Dragon Riding. She dug out her rider outfit and slipped it on, excited to see her dragon again.

Luna sighed. First she had jewel classification, her least favorite subject.
Pup sighed in the stables, bored. -

Lucinda stretched her orange wings. She then opened the door, flew out and locked the door. She flew down to the horse stables where she saw a group of fairies lined up for Dragon Riding class. Lucinda joined the line.

Oh! I think you meant dragon stables, but that gave me an idea! Some fairies won't bond with a dragon, so they ride pegasi instead.)
The dragon instructor, a tall fairy with pale green wings and eyes like moss, raised an eyebrow. "A little late, Lucinda?" -

Personality: because her appearance and name are so dreary, she is often mistaken for evil, although a very good dragon. But constant rejection has turned her once-bright soul lonely and afraid. -
