Seeing her best friend crying only made the kitten begin to sob. The tears wouldn't cease slipping down, even after the soothing voice of her aunt became clear. She simply hugged Jezzabelle's paw as the white cat tried to push off the heavy metal box.

Finally the box was discarded, and Chara and Badger gasped at the damage it had done. "No!" shrieked Badger, nearly fainting at all the blood.
Naomi found herself strutting up to Soldier. "H-hi," she greeted coyly, tail twisting around his. -
Jezabelle gasped. "D-Duchess?!" The white she cat began to tremble horribly. Duchess looked up at her friends nervously.
The black tom stood up, his kind honey colored eyes sparkling with amusement. "Come on Naomi. We've been friends as Pounders for years, and you're gonna try flirting with me?" He asked jokingly, with a slight purr. -
"Sorry, Mr. Mouser," teased Naomi lightly, backing away.
Badger licked a bit of blood off of Duchess's muzzle.
Chara scampered off, returning with a few scrappy bandages. She carefully wrapped them around the injured kitten's tail. "It's okay, Duchess. You'll be okay." -
Her ocean blue eyes were wide and trembling. "My legs," She whispered, then faltered. It wasn't the pain (though it was excruciating and awful) that bothered her. It was the fact that she was making her friends worried. She winced as Chara wrapped her tail. Jezabelle closed her eyes and took a shaky breath.

"Can you walk? What hurts?" asked Chara gently.
Naomi bit her lower lip. "Uh... hey... wanna go get something to eat?" she inquired of Soldier. -
The black tom smiled. "Sounds good to me."
Duchess looked up at Chara. "It landed on my leg...it hurts." -

Chara and Badger nudged the injured kitten. "What now...?" wondered Badger, eyes welling with tears.
"Follow me," giggled Naomi, trotting to the alley next door. -
It's fine! :) What should happen to Duchess?)
Soldier shook his head, laughing, but he followed, too interested to see where she was going with this. -
Hrmmm......... she dies? No just kidding! I was thinking Badger falls in love with her instead of Vine, and then Vine finds out and gets real jealous! Cos she thinks Badger just likes her because she's injured)

Jezzabelle helped Duchess up, the kitten limping pitifully. -
Soon, Duchess was back in the apartment, situated in a comfy lump of pillows, which Chara had prepared.
Badger held the poor kitten's paw, assuring her that everything would be alright.
Meanwhile, Naomi was fixing a nice dinner for she and Soldier. Not fancy... but nice. -
The sandy golden Kirsten's frightened blue eyes calmed slightly at her friend's soothing voice. She nuzzled him gently. "Thanks Badger."
Soldier sauntered up quietly, sneaking up behind Naomi. -
Naomi, unaware Soldier was right behind her, began humming softly to a tune she had heard the employees listen to at the pound so many years ago.
Badger nuzzled back. "Are you positive you'll be okay?" he wondered shakily.
