christian i think is a denomination of the catholic religion.
-
Nothing. Here's what they have in common though: They're both dumb asses
-
Christianity is a religion, and it's broken down into many denominations. The two most prominant are Protestants and Catholics. They have differences in ways they worship but they are both considered Christian groups.
-
tongue NewbieWe've been over this: Catholics ARE Christians.
-
i forgot
-
Aughhh.
Catholics are Christians that hail Mary. -
Thank you, I love being called a dumb---.
XD, I'm kinda doubting the whole "heaven" thing though, now. -
it is true, christianity is the monothesitic religious view andhas many branches, but i think the question you intended to ask was: What is the difference in the "mainstream" christianity and catholic. am i tight?
-
eilloh NewbieCatholics are a religious group that worships Mary and God and wear rosaries and use 'holy water' and perform certain prayers to 'reserect' Jesus.
Christains are followers of God that are divided into divisions with different ideas.
Like Babtists believe in Babtism because Christ does so in the Bible to represent cleansing of sin.
And Pentacostals beleive you should be decent with long skirts and loose shirts and pants.
-
eilloh NewbieWhat is the same with all Christians?
They all believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and try to live their life for Him each day, even if they fail. -
tongue NewbieCatholicism IS mainstream Christianity! Maybe in some places it isn't very big, but it was the original form of Christianity and is therefore practiced by people of many backgrounds: Irish, Italian, Polish, Hispanics. There are ALOT of Catholics in America: it's not a fringe denomination at all!
-
um.. no. "mainstream" christianity is the way most people refer to protestant which is the better known version of christianity.
as to Catholics vs. Protestant the biggedt three differences are
1. they also worship to saints which spans the monotheistic docterine in my opinion.
2. they have a different outlook on the bible
3. they have different religious icons and cerimonies. -
tongue NewbieI suppose you have a point. The Catholics do follow less of the Bible than Protestants do. But the issue isn't really whether it's "mainstream" or not, because Catholicism has huge numbers. It's a mainstream religion. So we're back to the original question: is Catholism really Christianity? I still say yes- so long as you veiw Jesus as the Lord and Savior, you are a Christian.
-
tongue NewbieMaybe the reason I like Catholics so much is because they are "less Christian".
