can anyone name a war that wasnt (at least partially) started because of opposinig religiouse beliefs. i honestly cannot think of one!
-
Revolutionary war. The Americans wanted freedom. The Mexican war against Spain. They wanted freedom. The war in Iraq. The Civil war. America was arguing about becoming two seperate countries. Theres a few
-
the revolutionary war was fought because americans were being taxed up the ass. the british justified their taxation by the simple means that americans were lesser people than them. they were scum and low lives and deserved to have a harder time.
the civil war was faught because of slavery. the most fanatical believers in black opression as of today, is the kkk.
who justify there reasons through god.
i dont know enough about the mexican war against spain.
and i dont even want to get started on the war in iraq. -
OK NOW IM MAD!! YOU DONT MAKE MY COUNTRY LOOK BAD! THE BRITISH WERE OVERLY CONTROLLING AND AMERICANS WANTED FREEDOM!! And by golly we got it!! SO HA!!
No non no no!! How old are you and you musnt possibly live in America!! See when you are in ELEMENTARY school they teach you that the Civil war was because of slavery. In middle school and high school they tell you the reason. See, slavery was not the real issue. It was the second issue but not the first issue.
The Americans down south were not pleased with the people in the north. They wanted to sucede from the north (sucede- to depart from or to detatch)So they tried to! The got a president named J. Davis. And they called themselves the confederates. Now the president of America at the time was Abraham Lincoln. And he was not very pleased with the Saouths decision.. To say the least he was FURIOUS!!
So the North said no you are not splitting away from America and the South was like yes we are!! And there was several batlles and there was heavy cassulties!
During the War, there was some contreversy inbetween slaves. Basically in the end, slaves tried to make it to the Union (the north) and some of them served in the war. Ok most of them. And then the war ended because the Union won.
And so America was called the United States of America and the confederates didnt create their own country.
Nice history lesson huh?
The war in Iraq isnt about religion. -
WHY ARE U FIGHTING??!!
-
tongue NewbieI would say that half of all the wars or conflicts that have taken place throughout history have something to do with religion. The current example is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
-
actually ork's right.
the civil war was partly waged over slavery which in the first place was caused by the fact that the first testament bible states that dark skinned heathens are to be enslaved.
the Mexican war was justified by a crusade,
and the revolutionary war was lead by a man who said and i quote "i have been taksed by god to lead us from oppression"
the instigators of the Iraq war were religious fanatics... so yes in fact i can't think of one war that was not bound up in religion.
@lyssa lou :) were just debating issues -
fukin thank you slim!
-
yawns... umm the Bible doesnt say that. Slim. I have one right next to me. So if you could quote a few verses ill be glad to check them...
But the Bible says that all men are equal if thats how your are trying to say this has to do with slavery which happens be in the Bible..
-
which bible do you have?? because the bible's in print now are ALOT differant from the bibles of then, plus if your catholic, Lutheran, protestant, baptist, mormon opes dai, ECT. it's also different,
so do you have the first testament print sitting next to you? -
which is the one that led England- hence America to slavery
and no prob ork -
Yes i have the new testiment and old testiment. But i think cathloics call their Bible something else..
and my gramp is morman so i know his 'Bible' is called the Book of Morman -
ok now find were it says what i said... :)
back to the original point..do you have anything to say about that? -
Hey look two points here.
Point one: Dude i have to be honest with you: We must be from different worlds cuz i can never understand what you mean..
Point two: The Bible doesnt talk about America or England.
