Yikes, nakita, u got me confused!!!
-
Evolution brings one further away from their religion. Creationism brings one closer to their religion. Intelligence comes from intelligence. God is and created science. That's my belief.
-
Basically, believing in something doesn't make it real, even though some people think that. xD
And then I was just making fun of the sentence "there is no truth". -
I agree. I totally believe in science. And Nakita, if I say an elaphant is right in front of me, and I truly believe it, then it is there. In only my mind maybe, but to me it is real. Therefore, it is real. To someone else, beside you, it is not real. To someone on the other side of the globe, YOU are not real. Heard the expression: It will live live in your hearts. Memory IS truth. What you remember dictates what happened. Because if you don't remember something, how do you know it didn't actually happen? It did and it didn't. I am bored.

I agree with DragonKitty.....

Science and religion are separate. Science is logic and religion is faith.
earthly evolution isn't a fact no. However Cosmic evolution is beyond controversy. It is a fact of mathematics that we are all created from the various combination of the energy Cladius particles- protons, leptons, electrons.
And as it is a fact of quantum physics that the universe follows the single pattern weblink it can be assumed without chance of mistake that before the big bang there was a big crunch or we are simply the embryo form of a quantum being.
either way, and however you chose to interpret that statement the simple fact is that everything you see, taste, touch, feel, hear, or can perceive in any way is the product of your own mind.
Because everything is infinite. with infinite possibilities. Your mind follows the possibilities based on subconscious decision. so really even if their is a "god" then the best such a "god" could achieve is the ability to direct your MIND not the world. It could also be said that your subconscious is "god".
Even IF science has it dead right, then it will change the next year. because we control the basis of physics. :)
at any rate all that considered means that the absolute best "god" or science gets is a leap of faith on your part to chose to believe in something that doesn't exist because you find comfort and direction in it. Which I have always found admirable. -
@DragonKitty:
I'm kind of confused...?
As much as you imagine something is real, and as much as you tell yourself something is real, even if you do truly believe it's real, you can't bring non-existing things into existance by thinking and believing that they're real. If that was possible, there'd be no need for money, people would just believe that what they wanted was real and BAM you can have whatever you want.
Nor does remembering something make it real.
For example, we all know that President Barack Obama of the U.S.A. is alive and well today.
Even if every single human being alive on the planet Earth remembered that Barack Obama comitted scuicide yesterday by shooting himself with a shotgun, does that mean it's true and Obama really is dead? No, because that's just not how the world works.
My brother doesn't remember the time when he was playing "war" at one of his cub scout camps, so does that mean it didn't happen? No, it still happened, wether he remembers it or not. -
Nakita. 2 plus 2 wouldn't equal 4 if we hadn't said it was so. You're right Nakita, in your mind, because no one can ever be wrong with this theory. I mean, they can to others, and well, yeah, it's confusing, I admit. But to all those insane people, who believe that there are monsters in the closet (I'm not saying that there aren't), they really believe that there are, and even though we don't see the monsters, those evil creatures are real to them. TO THEM. Everyone has a different view of reality, because we all experience different things. Our experiences and choices make up our world of reality, for example, if a person waves to you and you don't see, to you, that person never waved. Stop thinking of things from a physical perspective and start thinking of them as experiences and memories.
If a tree falls in the middle of a forest and no one is around to hear or record it, does it make a sound? If you're basing it on physical disturbances in the air, yes. But if you're basing it on human experience, no. You are right. I am right. In our minds. If Hitler believed he was doing the right thing in his mind, then he was right, if only he believed it. Therefore, he is right and not right. Get it? If not, whatever. I'm tired of this conversation.
PS. try telling your math teacher that 2 plus 2 is 5. You can argue for ages about Quantum Theory. It's fun. -
@DragonKitty:
Okay...I think I understand the theory... xD
So basically, nothing is real (Sorry if I'm still too stupid to understand). If I walk into a store with a gun and shoot the first five people I see, but I believe I'm doing something good, then it would be okay and the police would be wrong for arresting me?
And christians (like me :P) basically believe that Jesus took the punishment for mankind's sin by dying on the cross, and if you believe that, you're a christian and will go to heaven when you die. But if the theory about you having your own reality is true...then I could become a terrorist, kill over 500 people in a terrorist attack, kill my own family, set the entire city on fire for no apparent reason, be a Satan worshipper (I said SATAN WORSHIPPER, not SATANIST, so pweeze don't kill me Carri04. x3) and still go to heaven, since I believed what I was doing was right? -
No..... Ok, im alittle confused here... Nakita and Dragonkitty, before i explain, just know that this is my point of view... If u believe something is good then that doesnt mean its good.... If u just believe that God exists, it doesnt really mean he does (im not saying he doesnt) but if u combine your belief, faith and perharps alittle knowledge, then truly what u believe is true, isnt it..,.. Belief and faith are 2 different words, but when combined at the peak... they can do the impossible... For example.... Those who really believe in their religion and have alot of faith in their religion, usually see miracles connected with their religion,...why, because they believed and had faith too... Another example, like Dragonkitty's example, if a child believes that there is a monster in the closet, and keeps believing, sooner or later that belief will become faith, and viola.... There is a monster in the closet!!! Same thing with witchs/wizards, they believe that there really is magic and have faith that they can cast magic spells, and so they can, all because of belief and faith, and knowledge.... Well, thats me, if im off topic, then guide me back on!!!

greenldsgirl NewbieI believe there is a balance. I think science helps to support and prove some things in religion, but is against some things. Enough said.

Boy were typing really long messages. Kinda makes me nauscious
-
Yesh, I seem to make long posts rather often. xD
-
Would you like to briefly translate your thoughts?
-
Ummm, you mean what I'm thinking right this very minute?
Right now I'm thinking about how my back is killing me. And I should really be sitting on the couch instead of this stupid wooden bench thing in my room. But I'm too lazy to move.
Or do you mean the thing I was saying about...um...how I disagree with the belief that if you think something is right, it is?
