Post your thoughts or opinions on that.
I'm neutral on this, so yeah. -
Probably not.
Once the muslims invade officially and start press ganging people into their religion I figure it'll be around for at least another one hundred years.
Even if it doesn't, humanity has a habit of making up new ones in the face of difficulty. Or simply for the money benefits. (Looking at you, Scientologists.)
Real talk though, in 2010, eight in ten people world wide identify as part of a religious group. That's nearly six billion people. I highly doubt religion is going anywhere in your lifetime, or the lifetime of anyone in your future bloodline. -
People inherently will seek religion. So after there is a boom of atheism it will fall and more religions will fill its place.
-
Most people need someone to look up to. Whether it be God, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Kevin Bacon.. So it most likely won't, unless you start killing everyone who is religious.
-
Mm, I agree with Superiority and The Geek.
And I think that a lot of people need religion to avoid the belief that they're living a meaningless life that will have no impact or greater purpose. Stuff like that really depresses people and they'll believe anything to the contrary. Not only that but religion has a lot of other things to give people, like community and emotional strength (because it gives you the belief that times of trouble or grief have a greater purpose).
But I don't know, I think the rate of religion is definitely falling but I doubt it'll ever be gone or anywhere near to it. Who knows what the future holds? -
Indeed...

I don't think it will be in the coming 50 years. But later, it maybe. Now it's our turn. Christianity is going to be second religion with most people. According to science, Islam will be first in the next 50 years. (I am not sure and I don't want any reply)

I think my post was a bit rude.
-
Yes the brackets part was rude.

You bet your life it won't. Sorry to be SUCH a party pooper, but N-O, it won't be gone. In the meantime, go enjoy the "peacefulness" out there.
(*"peacefulness" because the days of no violence are going to be scarce....
