I don't just agree with the religion. Such as it being against homosexuality, which I am totally supportive of. Hell, I may even discover that I like girls that way too. I have though of them like that. In verse Lev. 20:13 it says,
"If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them."
And then there's a part about it being against mixing races I believe, a relative told me that he thought it was wrong to do so and it said not to in the Bible, which I looked deeper into, and I found this in verse Deuteronomy 7:3-4.
"You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly."
I'm not too sure about that one though, whether the Bible says it's wrong or not. But if it is, well, then, I disagree with that as well.
I mean, there is also the idea of one almighty powerful force being the savior and creating earth and everything in it? Sounds a little far fetched to me.
My parents told me that God created me, which it doesn't make sense because I thought they made me? I mean, if God made me, then would he have sex? It's against the Bible to have sex, but how else to reproduce? And if God really did make me by hand, do I just pop up out of nowhere? Who will take care of me, then? And the idea of God "creating" me while I'm in the womb doesn't make sense because I thought I was already created by my own parents. What???
There's a bunch of stuff I'm not comfortable with as well. Like a lot of the people who are Christians? They force the religion down your throat. Not saying all of them are like this, but a lot of them are. I saw a video of a priest bragging about how he kicked this dude's ass because he didn't convert to Christianity. Like, huh?
This doesn't mean I don't believe in God, I just think that nobody really knows for sure who is really up there, and if there really is somebody controlling everything. The term I find fitting of that belief is agnostic, and that's what I think I am. Look, I'm just not in sync with him and when I step back and look at it, the religion to me sometimes seems like bullcrap. At the same time, though, I think there's a possibility that Jesus is real, I'm just not certain and none of us are. But I guess I may stay Christian as long as I'm around my parents...who are hardcore Christians.
Oh well. -
what version is that bible that you took the text out of, some translations are misleading in there wording or just plain out lies.
Keep in mind that the NKJ version is one of the most accurate. -
One thing: The Bible was created by humans wanting to control other humans, not by a magical sky daddy.
-
I personally found NIV was closest to the hebrew and greek texts.
-
It is, but I doubted that br0wnie would understand it as well.
Also, I didn't say most accurate, I said one of the most accurate. -
Rain pretty much hit the nail on the head. Religion exists entirely to control society. Religion and belief in God are basically mutually exclusive, so it's better to just disregard both and live your own damn life.
-
Okay, so if God doesn't exist then how the f--- did the first bacteria form? there is no f---ing way that there could've just been some random accident. And also, we already know that the Universe came out of basically nothing, but if there's nothing to speak of, then how the bloody hell do you explain the Big Bang? it makes 0 sense otherwise.
And not all Christians force the religion down people's throats. I'm Catholic and I've only talked about my religion on this website a few times.
And don't use the overused excuse of "well I can't see Him so how am I supposed to know He's there?" um, can you SEE the dust between the stars?
and theres a lot more proofs I could give, but I guess that would be shoving my religion down your throat, so I won't do that, since ONLY Christians force their religion down people's throats. -
The first cells: (Yes, random f---ing accident)
Big bang:
Who says that's the beginning? All scientists are saying is that that's a point of origin.
#NotallChristians:
You're right. Not all Christians do. That's why we have to fight to have evolution taught in schools. That's why our money have "In God we Trust" written on it. (Not added until 1967 btw). That's why moral delimmas with the religious community have stifled advancement everywhere from stemcell research to the HPV vaccine, to f---ing basic human biology. Because not all Christians do. But some do. And they do f---ing enough.
"Well I can't see him":
Space dust. Your move God boy.
You say you have more "proofs". Well you're going to need to do a hell of a lot better than the incoherent and angry ramblings of a teenage boy to be seen as any more credible than horoscopes and Dr. Suess. Because that's all religion is. Unsupported mysticism and fantasy literature.
And you're right. Christianity isn't the only one to force their religion down other people's throats. Good thing Atheism is literally the lack of religion. After all, faith is belief without evidence.
Your move. -
Christians don't FORCE anything down people's throats.
And this is a freaking religion board. If someone is strong holding there religious beliefs and try to give you facts about there religion then that is totally legal. Flipping out because someone shares a opinion from there religious point of view isn't shoving nothing, it's what the board is for. -
Are you joking? Are you making the point that a real Christian wouldn't do that, or are you being ignorant and actually trying to claim that it doesn't happen?
Also no one's flipping out but you. This is a religious board. People are discussing. This is usually how conversations about religion go. -
Before I reply to anything, I'd like to thank you all for contributing to the conversation.
First of all, Alex, I appreciate your point of view and your opinion. But, let me take something out of your context and out of my context, because apparently you ignored it.
"And not all Christians force the religion down people's throats."
^ Your context.
"Like a lot of the people who are Christians? They force the religion down your throat. Not saying all of them are like this, but a lot of them are.
^ My context.
I said that a lot of Christians are like this. Why? I've once had an experience when I asked a priest how he knows God is real and he got a couple of his church workers and they all asked me to pray with them. They prayed for my salvation...right in front of me. The next Sunday a girl probably a few years younger than me tugged at my coat and told me, "You work for Satan!" Her mother frowned at me and shook her head. Then her probably younger sister came over and tried to stomp on my foot, but I moved before she could. And after that the priest gave me a Bible and told me that God is real and that I should believe in him. (I lost the Bible the last time I moved.) The people over at that church don't like me anymore because the word got spread around, probably by the priest and the workers he got. And now I don't go to that church anymore.
Another example is my parents. I've had a couple conversations with them about religion and my mom yelled at me saying that the Big Bang isn't real. Which, really, I didn't say it was, and I told her that. Then I asked her if Jesus was crucified on the cross, and that was on Earth, then he didn't make Earth, right? Then she told me I was f---ing stupid. And my dad... well, he agreed with her.
My Language Arts teacher also taught us about Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden one day, actually no, that was a couple weeks ago, even with my non-Christian (by that I mean Muslim) friends/classmates in the room, which they seemed a little offended by.
Then there's this.
But that could just be me and the Christians that are in my environment. Although you can ask some of my Muslim friends.
Also have to agree with Bob here. -
What I am saying is that there is no such thing as shoving stuff down ones throat. It just doesn't work like that. You either choose to listen to what the person is saying or you leave, so if someone's opinion is offensive to you or goes against what you believe and you keep telling them they are wrong and they keep telling you that it is the truth then it is both of your fault, not just the person who is resenting you.
You can't expect a person to cower under you because you disagree on a subject. They are going to try to prove you wrong. And of they don't they are either weak minded, know you are right, or are peaceful and do not argue
Now stop giving me this crap, if you don't agree then say plainly that you don't agree. I am not going to argue with you guys about this. -
No one's expecting anyone to cower. Are you even paying attention? Get out of here if you just want to disagree and be done with it. It's called a discussion board for a reason.
-
I'm not completely saying that I 100% disagree with the religion. There are some parts, eh, I think I could believe. I just think that maybe God is real, but none of us really know for sure. And what Lucifer said.

Vanilla is displaying exactly the ignorance that has kept Christianity thriving over many years. If somebody challenges Christianity, ignore it and pray to Sky Daddy.
