I have two points to make on that. The first is that almost no advancement is made in the name of religion. So claiming that religious people support advancements is moot. Pedophiles, serial killers, and anyone else also support advancements. Unless you can provide me with evidence of advancements that have actually been committed with religiosity in mind, it'd be like saying "not all Christians firebomb abortion clinics so we're pro-choice."
My second point is a correction and a revision. I take issue with organizations that allow the negative minorities to be the ones to make decisions that effect others.So while your group as a majority do not cause these atrocities, there are members of your organization that are. These are the people who are giving you your names and the criticism that Christianity is recieving. Not us. Them. -
I'm still not seeing the difference. Something defined that cuts off "This is where fictional stories stop and religion starts." So far the only difference you've provided me with is that people take religion as fact and argue about it and rewrite it. Which honestly makes it less appealing than the old wives tales.

Slim, I'm saying that the religion is no longer making sense to me but I still see a possibility of a god with all these miracles by praying and stuff.

I'm done with this because it always gives me a headache. I'm not backing off on my points, I'm just pulling out of this entire thing as a whole. -
To point one: those pedophiles, serial killers, their victims, the law enforcement who catch them, the media who cover and everyone else are also likely religous in some way or another. Stating that the religious support advancment is only moot in service of trying to prove religion seeks advancement-it doesnt necceserily. But neither does it seek to put it down. You ask for evidence of what motivates someone, what kind of evidence shows that?
In regard to the second point bob, the feud between atheism and religion come the illusion that there IS organization. There isnt. There is no "them". There is no "us". The real religious organizations and atheist organizations deal in politics and money. Only individuals care about the meaning of life so to speak. -

And fictional stories are stories and religion is religion. Religion sometimes features stories, but it also features other things. I dont know how else t say it dude. They are literally not synonymous. Its not a matter of philosophy, its a matter fact. I mention theres a difference in size essentially several different ways because i was trying to explain to you that a story is like a pebble in a room that is religion, on a table, in a jar of other pebbles. Stories is a noun with one definition and religion is a noun with a different definition.
The only way i can see they are possibly related is by both being fictional.
Ok, if thats what your getting at, great, ill ask you what aspect of religio n exactly is fictional?
But if you open a dictionary and look up the word religion and the word story and dont see the difference, then you need a new dictionary.
