They have their own beliefs and you have yours. Can't we all just get along?
And you know what I realized?
On The Garden, nobody complains about Catholics. -
I think they do that because they met a few Christians who were rude and bashing on their beliefs, so they think every Christian is like that, but it really isn't true.
And Catholics are Christians. Christian is like an umbrella term. -
Ohhh okay.
I mean it's sort of stupid. -
I'm pretty sure people on here did complain about Catholics before, but I don't think it happens a lot.

I personally think religion doesn't matter anyways because it is BS. -
Yeah, people just kinda made up religion when they couldn't understand what was happening. But I still think that religion can be a good thing because you find people with a common interest, so you make friends, and religion is actually good for your mental and physical health.

I feel that both of you are awfully presumptuous to think that we only take issue because we've met "A few Christians who were rude."
Whilst I cannot speak for everyone who shares a lack of religiosity, I can speak personally for my disagreement with Christianity due to it's knack of worming it's way into government and science. Hindering both and damaging the world like a weed damages a rock. -
The aim is to eradicate christianity as fast as ppssoble.

People bash different things for different reasons. In the case of atheists and theists...ive never met one who argued against the other who had a rational argument for their distaste of the othr side. Ever.
So, maybe its not absolute, but in my experience, its generally just generated by some small character flaw that needs an outlet. -
It's because Christians are one of the few safe targets left to bash. I mean, let's think about this for a second.
You can't make fun of Islam because that's Islamophobia and people will get mad at you.
You also can't make fun of other religions like Buddhism or Shintoism because those are cultural and you'd be a racist.
You also can't make fun of race for the same reason.
You can't make fun of gays and lesbians because then you'd be homophobic.
You can't make fun of fat people because that's fat hate and they're perfectly happy with their bodies.
You can't make fun of women because you'd be a misogynist and you can't make fun of transsexuals because you'd be a transphobic.
You can't make fun of the poor because that's punching below the belt.
And you can't make fun of retards, because that's also punching below the belt.
So who's left? Christians. Men with weird hobbies. Rich people. Terrorists. And that's about it.
And that's my belief, anyway. -
Well that would be true...if it were true. People make sexist, racist, religious, and socio economic jokes ALLLLL the time. Man you cant work at a store without hearing sexual harrasment going on, and im a laid back guy but its lathered on thick xD I mean its just kind of what people do, its nothing to worry about, but it does exist. Very little is sacred from what ive seen

You're missing the point of 'safe target.' Yes, you can make jokes about anything, but christians are one of the few non controversial topics to bash on. The only people who get offended by christian jokes are christians.
If you walk up to someone and say 'I hate blacks,' or 'I hate Muslims,' then any sane person is going to label you as a bigot. But if you walk up to someone and say 'I hate the church,' or 'I hate the rich,' then that's okay, because they're safe targets and it's okay to have those opinions. Hell, look at this thread for some anecdotal evidence.

That hasnt been my experience. But I only live in one town and consume one persons worth of media. So what do I know

I believe that people bash hard on the Christians because deep down know that what they are saying is right most of the time. And that People don't bash on the other beliefs because they know that those people are to dull in there conseption so there really is no point in telling them to shut up, besides other cultural religions tend to be quieter I there sharing there faith because deep down they also know that there religion is false.
The Garden is were designed to talk and share opinions on religion and spirtuallity so if you don't have a seriously ligimate thing to confront me with don't say anything at all.
