Where's your proof right now?
Then why doesn't he do it again? Is it not possible that that person pretended to be god and then had all those people write what he said? -
I like how suddenly you do understand
If God does exist and you believe in him, you'll go to Heaven.
If not, what's the harm done by believing in him?

There's so many gods what makes you think your way is right? Some people don't need religion to feel like they have a life. I'd rather live my life for myself than some nonexistent force that some people obsess over.

Absolutely nothing. And that's just how I like it.
I don't need the comfort blanket of a "heaven".
I don't fear mortality.
And if my only other option is to spend a life time of servitude so I can spend eternity in ignorant bliss while everyone I cared about suffers, then I will gladly take oblivion. -
"If God is not real, what is harm in believing in him?" Mental slavery. Senseless violence and warfare. Just to name a few things.
Also I never really followed up on my original post. This was inspired by a woman that my mother knows and works with and who I have met on several occasions. A couple of years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. As of this moment she is in remission. Last week, her son committed suicide after a long battle with substance abuse. As far as this woman is concerned, I have known her to be nothing but nice, probably one of the most genuinely nice people on the planet. My mother has 5 days a week with her for the past five years and has said nothing about this woman to the contrary. No one lives a blameless life, but she is about as close as someone can get. If there are any "sins" in her past, she has almost certainly atoned for all them.
This person has been through hardships that she doesn't deserve to go through, that were completely beyond her control. So I ask again: where is your God in any of that? -
bananabread NoviceI just wanted to address the after death thing. My beliefs, though a little unorthodox, is that everything is made of energy, and when you die your energy continues to live, yet you have no physical form. My dad has passes yet we can always feel his presence with us. I'm not saying there is a heaven or nothing. Only saying that we continue to live though we may not know it.
Back to main topic. I'm agnostic and I totally believe with tounge. Bad s--- happens to my family all the f---ing time and we do not deserve it. We try to be as nice and kind to everyone, yet s--- happens that isn't nice, yet we try to live past it and more s--- comes. Please tell me how your God can be so cruel to us. -
By saying "These people are so nice; they don't deserve this." is pretty much saying you believe in karma...right?
I don't I just feel like that's what banana and tongue are saying so in just making sure. -

Okay here's what I believe/disbelieve about this.....
It was her son's fault. He made wrong choices in life and now both him and his mother have to suffer the consequences.
If you really think about it, all evil in this world is just lack of God and/or people making bad decisions which causes more bad things to happen and more and more and finally it affects the good people.
God doesn't cause any of the cruelty in this world. People not following God and/or doing bad things does.
But this is just what I believe.
