As for books... have you read the Hunger Games? It's really, really good series I find. Other good series tha I can suggest:
-Pretty Little Liar series (Not as girly as it looks... kinda scary, it's murder)
-House of Night Series (Funny, but swear words are apparent)
-Heist Society series (Very interesting, I find)
Hmm... maybe ask for a chemistry set? I have one of those :)
Or a telescope/ miscroscope? Their fun to look through when there's lots of stars out :D
Maybe one of those home experiment books? With different combinations for expirements you can do on your own with hosuehold items? -

Trust me, Lil, the show doesn't even COMPARE to the books: they're completely addictive and long, so you won't lose interest too quickly. It's really suspenseful though, but most of the books are written so you won't have to wait too long.
