(alright. but you don't have to.)
-
Jack watches Sam stand up to him. He tries not to laugh when Mr.Smith twitches. He sees her leave the room and he's left alone with Mr.Smith standing next to him. He says."So..."
-
Kind of happy and homicidal. ^^
-
Sam walks down the hall and steps into the office. "Mr. Smith sent me," she says to the secretary. She points to the right, holding a phone in her other hand. Sam continues until she sees a door marked "Administrative Office". She steps in and stands before a desk marked "Principal"
-
Mr.Smith doesn't say anything back. He just goes back to the board and starts talking again. Some of the kids snicker and Jack laughs a little back. For awhile he just taps his pencil on his books, not listening to the teacher. His mind keeps drifting to Sam and he hopes she doesn't get in too much trouble.
-
A woman walked in and sat down at the desk. She looked a lot like Sam's mother. Her thoughts kept drifting to Jack. She kept hoping that Mr. Smith left him alone. "What brought you here, hon?" the woman asked. "Mr. Smith sent me because I was scared of his skeleton statue," she fibbed. If she could get off with no punishment she might as well. "Ah, you know how irrational Mr. Smith can be. I'll give you a pass and you can head back to class." She hands Sam a pass and escorts her out the door. Sam walks back to Science and takes her seat. She smiles at Jack and whispers, "Hey. I'm off the hook."
-
Jack glance at Smith but he's not watching. He smiles and says, "Really? How'd you manage that?" He can't believe that Sam actually made it out without any trouble and when he thinks about it he realizes that he really was immensely worried.
-
Sam smiles. "Let's just say that the principal believe that this face," she points to her face, "can't do anything wrong." She felt kind of bad about lying to the principal, but it was better than getting in trouble on the first day of school.
-
Other kids start packing up. Jack shrugs and says, "Yeah, well, I would believe it too. You have a nice look to you." He gets red again. What the heck kind of a compliment was that, Jack? he thinks.
-
Neutral and excited.
-
Sam blushes a bit. "Thanks," she replies. Apparently I have a nice look to me... she thinks to herself. Sam smiles and gathers her books. "So... what class do you have next?" she asks Jack.
-
Jack stands up and checks his schedule. "Right now...I have English with Mrs.Calbert. How 'bout you?"
-
"Honours Geometry with Ms. York," she replies. "I don't think I belong in anything honours having to do with math." Sam laughs and pushes in her seat. "I'll see you at lunch, yeah?"
-
"Yeah, see you then." He gives a last smiles. Then grabs his stuff and heads out to English. A bit of a bounce is back in his step. Well, today's getting better he thinks.
-
Sam watches Jack head down the hallway a bit and turns to her locker and swaps out her stuff for her math notebook. She turns into the math room and stares at the whiteboard trying to make sense of the equations and weird shapes. Her thoughts kept turning to Jack. She was left wondering if he was thinking about her. Finally the teacher called on her, bringing her back to reality. She admitted that she didn't know and she could hear the snickers and laughs from the back of the room. She sat impatiently glancing at the clock every few seconds, finding it hardder and harder to wait.
