I don't know if this will make you feel any better or not, but there are tons of users that have caused drama.. myself included. As long as you do your best to avoid it or work through conflict responsibility, it'll be okay.
As for freedoms.. You'll get them, one day. I know it sucks to be restricted right now, but once you get out into the real world, you'll forget about the times where you were stuck asking for permission. -
