Does it matter though?
-
I think the same of you, Wendee. It's all a matter of perspective.
It does in the case that Christians like to make a point of the idea that people choose to be gay in spite of what their religion dictates. -
I really don't care. Honestly you could be born one or not. It's all a matter of opinion. Christians and their book they read contradicts itself constantly, but not getting into that matter.
I partially rest my case. -
Here's the thing: if homosexuality were in fact a choice or a product of environment (i.e. nurture as opposed to nature), then why has it been proven time and time again that gay people cannot be "cured" of their homosexuality? There really isn't any other explanation besides being born gay.
-
Also to answer Geek, no it really doesn't matter. The real standard as far as sexuality goes is consent between adults. Pedophiles could be born liking children, but that doesn't mean it should be legal for them to molest children because they are born that way. Being gay doesn't hurt anybody, so really the whole "nature vs. nurture" argument is pretty much irrelevant.

Hmm maybe..but is that proof that you're born it though?
Other things you grow up being taught or influenced by can last with you and can't necessarily be changed later in life. -
Maybe its just a lack of education on my part...but I see very little sound evidence to support the theory that we have have an inborn inclination towards one type of sexuality or the other.
And kind of a lot of evidence to suggest that we arent. -
Are you suggesting that we're all born pan and then taught that we're meant to be attracted to the opposite sex?
-
I think we were born and then we grew into it by hanging around someone that was like that.
-
Pretty much scorch. Although the word pansexuals been comandeered by sensationalist thinking, I think the term sexually fluid is more fitting.
-
No because..it's a biological fact that "straight" relationships is what keeps the population going. This modern day view of gay and straight being both as natural as each other just doesn't make sense.
Also the amount of gays seems to be just getting bigger and I'm thinking maybe there's also an evolutional reason for that - to slow down the overpopulation issue. -
Also I'm aware this probably isn't a popular view but don't hate me for it
-
Its actually one of the most popular theories. And yes, it sounds great because ot adresses some obvious things, but let me point out first, that evolution works via survival of the fittest. If homosexuality was genetic in any way or related to evolution, it wouldn't exist. Because those people would be many, many times less likely to breed than anyone else.
It sounds rosy to say homosexuality exists as a natrual defense against overpopulation, but theres number 1 no reason why that would be, and number two, we already have natrual population gaurds which work VERY well and as of this day, there hasnt been a population crisis of global or even continental proportions yet.
In closing im going to add that, yes gays are natrually occuring in the most forgiving sense of the word. They are of course as natrual as anything else. They are not the norm, but the sexual preference wasnt invented in a lab somwhere. It came from amd exists in the wilderness as much as civilization -
X claps X
Thank you, guys. -
Yeah but the main sexual preference HAS to be straight for obvious reasons, that's what I meant by "natural".
TheLoveOfBands did you want to know this for your school project or something?
