IHLAOY NewbieIf someone removed the bottom of a pyramid, the entire thing would collapse almost instantly.
If someone removed the top the pyramid, the entire thing would still sustain itself.
Food for thought. -
A sign of a good culture would not be doing those things in the first place.
Does that make us better than dolphins? No because we do the same thing. And dolphins only kill if something threatening like a shark is near their babies.
I understand instinct. And if that were the case then we would have a lot of it too because we have been taught to sit down in class and take notes on stuff.
Are you seriously asking me how mankind is not good?
Humans abuse animals and each other, rape things (I say things because there was this one guy that raped a pool raft), murder, bully, strangle each other, fight, and there are wars. Yep, that sounds like mankind is good to me. -
I would kill and eat you to if we were in wild starving.
-
But just saying no offence toward anyone in my comment I havent read even half this haha I just know I would

IHLAOY NewbieAre you seriously asking me how mankind is good?
Humans band together in times of misfortune, donate millions to help people they will never meet, set up an entire system to punish those who do wrong, fight for liberty and freedom against evil men, nurture and care for those that cannot do it themselves, love partners selflessly and fully; with the passion that only lovers can know and that burns deep into the night, create works of art and music the beauty of which can not even be described by mere words and they RECYCLE!
Yep, sounds like mankind is bad to me.
Going back to the top; No, a good culture would not prevent evil. To prevent evil would be to prevent free will. Evil cannot be prevented, but it must always be fought. Fought by good hearted men and women in courtrooms, classrooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, prison cells and living rooms. A good culture does all it can to stop these things, but to believe it can stop it all on its own is foolish. It needs the help of men willing to stand up against evil.
After all, all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. -someone somewhere.
Secondly, I used the dolphin analogy as a counter to your dog analogy. Where you expressed that dogs and, by extension, animals in general were better than humans because of their increased empathy. I countered that, I did not mean to imply that we were in any way superior (even though, lets be honest here, I could beat a dolphin in a fight.) -
IHLAOY NewbieGod, reading the second paragraph makes me want to shout AMERICA!
-
Where did I ask you how mankind is good?
And they cut down our main air supply and use nonrenewable resources, so mankind kinda has to recycle in order to not one out of the resource.
I get what you're saying about the evil and good thing, because good cannot exist if there is no evil, but there should be a lot less evil in this world.
They are better than humans. When I was bullied, only my dogs were there to help me not kill myself. Not humans. So yeah, dogs are very important in my life and I sure as hell think that they're better than humans. I would live to see you get in a fight with a dolphin be size you will lose. That dolphin will either kill you by itself, or other dolphins will come and help kill you. -
My only wise English teacher thats very smart, We had a long class discussion about animals and how they save lives and stuff and had fun. And I'll just skip to the part were this annoying, clueless girl said "I think we should just kill all the DANGEROUS animals" and then blah I forgot the middle, then my teacher said "Were the only ones that cause mass destruction. These animals, they just watch and mind there own buisness, but apparently us, human beings, we cant mind Ours."
-
IHLAOY NewbieCome now, a swarm of locusts would cause widespread destruction for an entire continent. Cane toads are destroying the entire ecosystem down in Australia. Wild pigs tear up and destroy the land around irreparably for years around. You can't honestly imply that mankind is the only race to cause damage to the environment. And I'm going to take offense to that last point to; mind our own business. What is our business? Can you give me a clear answer? Because as a thinking being, I was under the impression that our business was whatever we wanted to involve ourselves in. Because, unlike animals, we have the choice to involve ourselves in many different things.
I pointed out that mankind was good in response to your point of mankind not being good. While the answer is subjective, It felt wrong not to look at both sides of the issue.
Now, when we say I'm going to fight a dolphin, I think we need to set a few a ground rules. Mainly because if the dolphin gets friends it seems unfair that I don't. SO:
It's a 1v1. Me and the dolphin. No outside assistance.
It will take place in a waist deep river. Deep enough to inconvenience me, and shallow enough to inconvenience him.
In return for not using superior human weaponry and winning in three seconds, the dolphin will also not use inferior dolphin weaponry.
We'll play three rounds, first to two is the winner.
Winner will be decided by knock-out, surrender or death. A new dolphin will be supplied on death, and a new me will be cloned in my place.
The prize at steak here is twenty dollars and a bucket of fish. That should motivate each of us equally.
Now lets go slap a fish around! -
Then why haven't locusts done that yet? They're probably doing that because there aren't enough predators out there to keep everything balanced. And why is that? Because we have hunted animals to extinction. The Tasmanian Tiger was hunted to extinction by mankind for some money. To me, that's one of the worst things ever. How can you take offense to my last point? It was true. I don't know what our business is and niether does anyone else.
Dolphins can function perfectly fine in waist deep water, so you just put yourself at a disadvantage. You'd die anyway because the dolphin is about as vicious as a shark when need to be. They have teeth, and they have been known to kill sharks.
You know that dolphins are mammals, right? -
IHLAOY NewbieIf nobody knows what our business is, how can you condemn someone for doing it? Do you know what he should be doing instead? Why haven't you said as much yet than? His business is whatever he chooses to make it, because nobody knows what it is the first place.
And locusts have done that, several hundreds times throughout history. It's only through the research and efforts of man that we've managed to put a stop to them! When the locust breeding season comes around, there is no realistic number of predators that can dent their numbers.
Kill sharks, as a group! That's the deciding factor here. Look, I'm not saying I'm the strongest guy, just above average. I have nails, I can hit hard, and if I pull him out of the water he would need to surrender or choke. I reckon I could beat a dolphin in a fight, all he has going for him is his speed and teeth.
Also, it slipped my mind. Thank you for the reminder. -
..Why are we talking about dolphins?
-
..Wrong account.
-
His business isn't to go out and kill innocent people/animals. That much I know.
I've never heard of that.
You obviously don't know a lot about dolphins. They have to breathe air too and you can't pull a dolphin out of water because 1. They're too heavy. 2. They're slippery and 3. You won't be able to hold onto them because they will be thrashing around, hitting you with their tailfin. Go out in the ocean and try to fight a dolphin. I won't be sad if it kills you, I'll probably be saying "I told you so". -
Basically anything Meg said in response is my point of view on this. Thanks Meg.
