I'm muslim but even I find that bull s---.
-
I thought we weren't supposed to build ANYTHING there.
-
I don't agree with the building of that mosque there but I don't think the government or anyone should deny them their right to practice their religion freely.
-
it really is complete nonsense
-
tongue NewbieYes, the people who destroyed the Twin Towers were Muslims, but Islam did not perpetrate 9/11. And as Joe said, Muslims have a constitutional right to build a place of worship wherever they choose, as would any religion.
It's also worth noting that this mosque/cultural center has been operating for a year- the only reason it's being talked about now is because it's being used for political purposes by the Right. -
tongue NewbieThe old Burlington Coat Factory two blocks from Ground Zero was probably the best space they could find. And there are alot of Muslims in Lower Manhattan.
-
Peter Principle NoviceAs Obama said today, if they were Christians we wouldn't stop them from building a church, and if they were Jewish we wouldn't stop them from building a synagogue. As Americas we can't single out Muslims and say they can't build there, just because the terrorists were Muslims. We can't blame every single Muslim in the world for the terrorist attack.
-
I say they just build the mosque a few miles away from where they originally planned and the protests will stop...
...Or not. -
I heard Donald Trump is offering 25% more than what they paid for for that land just so they'll move it. He doesn't agree with removing it but he just wants the controversy to stop already.
-
Correction: Donald Trum is against the building of the mosque because he believes it will cause riots everywhere.
-
tongue NewbieBecause this is America, the land of freedom, and "over there" is the land of Islamic fascism.
-
tongue NewbieDo what? Set you straight?
-
Nope. Besides, the unions are gonna build the world trade center all over, and put reflection pools where the twin towers were. The man who wants to build it only has a muslim religion, but he's been living as an american for years. Mosque or world trade? I think world trades more important.
No offense, to people who want to build a mosque. My dad's rebuilding the world trade and he's going to get alot of money for it, that's why I'd rather have the world trade. -
They have a constitutional right to build there if they want. But as far as if they should is another issue. I have nothing against Muslims and in fact I want there to be acceptance and more tolerance in America towards them. I just don't think it's a good idea for them to build there. I don't think it'd be a good idea to build any religious building there.
