tongue NewbieI get what you're saying, Don Corleone- gun control doesn't neccessarily reduce crime, and criminals do still find ways to get guns. No debate over that- it's a fact. But we shouldn't let criminals own firearms legally- we shouldn't be the ones putting the gun in their hands. And even with gun control measures, law-abiding citizens can legally own a gun to protect themselves if they so choose.

They steal them! People who want to protect their family buy them! So either way criminals are getting them!

tongue NewbieDid you read my quote at all, Don? Whatever gun control restrictions there are, law-abiding citizens can still own guns if they want to. As for criminals, yeah, they'll probably get guns either way, but why should we be putting guns in their hands legally?

tongue NewbieThe kind of laws you are advocating- or I assume you are advocating- would make it so that anyone could get guns, including convicted criminals and mentally unstable citizens. Do you feel that we as a society should legally put a gun in the hands of someone who is likely to use it in the commission of a crime? I don't.

The Godfather NewbieOh I see. Yes absolutley you are right. The problem is we can't tell who is a criminal, so by banning the guns completley as advocated by most liberals, they would only get in the hands of criminals who steal them.

dw1996 NewbieI know it is said that guns don't kill people, but they do. They are made specifically for killing people. So why the hell wouldn't you want to try and keep guns away from people who have no business using them? I don't support getting rid of guns completely, because you do need to protect yourself, but certain people just shouldn't have guns.
