That's a tough one. There are several good contenders for this: John Adams despite being a founding father, he infringed on Constitutional rights and screwed up on foreign policy with Britain and France, Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan for taking a "neutrality" stance on slavery which eventually led us to the Civil War. Woodrow Wilson for raping Constitution Rights with things like the Sedition Act and making the income tax(which was orignially created for the top 1% and he said that the federal income tax rate would never go above 7%). Jimmy Carter in pretty much every area. George W. Bush for outragous spending, doing nothing about the upcoming housing crisis, and pretty much selling out his conservative values when he had a Republican Congress like the Patriot Act, and getting even worse with it when he got a Democratic Cognress, the bailouts for example. I suppose Barack Obama isn't one of the better ones either so far but I gonna let the guy finish his presidency before I rank him in with those other guys I listed.

I'm not sure about that Slim t. Many of the southern states that seceded did so shortly after Lincoln was elected. I think by the time he was inaugrated all the southern states had seceded already. The presidents who are responsible for it would probably be Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan for taking neutrality stances on the slavery issue.
