for or against, no fights, just your opinion.
i am against gun control, good people cant have them leagalie and criminals will get them anyway -
I'm against it.
I agree that the gun massacres are bad, but really, there are hundreds of other ways to kill people. You'd have to ban kitchen knives, rat poison, archery...hell, even mattresses, if you've ever read the Tell-Tale Heart you would know.
And if they really wanted it that bad, they're CRIMINALS. Don't go thinking that they won't steal as well as murder.
So that explains it, I'm against it. -
Same here. I'm against it.
If people want something, they'll get it. And the law-abiding citizens won't have it. So the law-abiding citizens are going to die when the criminals shoot them, and they can't defend themselves.
And being dead can't be much fun. -
Actually I've heard it is fun, most times.

neutral
though i'd rather have gun control, i think there are too many bad reasons for it.
i much prefer killing people with cleavers :D LOL -
tongue AdvancedFor it. Gun control doesn't neccessarily mean taking away everyone's guns. It's common sense that our government needs to monitor who is buying guns and make sure those guns aren't getting into the wrong hands. There are no gun control laws of any kind in Arizona, and Mexican drug cartels are taking advantage of this by getting their weapons in Arizona. Not to mention a guy with serious mental issues was able to purchase a gun and ammunition and shoot a congresswoman in Tucson.
-
You'd have to ban hands.
-
Half-and-half. Some people who have a bad or violent history just cannot handle guns, especially the bigger types that could do more damage. But on the other hand, the citizens have a right to have it as a defense for themselves, ect...
-
I agree with Emma.

Anyone who thinks the government should take away guns from anyone is an idiot b------ and if they are in the government then they should be kicked out. There is a 2nd Ammendment for a reason, people. I strongly believe in sticking with the Constitution (which is something Obama apparently cannot do) and I am completely against gun control. That is my gtq rant for today.
-
Pff. We probably haven't had a president really care about the constitution since 100 years ago.

tongue AdvancedI know we were supposed to just state our case, leave, and never come back to argue, but if I'm gonna be called an idiot basterd for what I believe then all bets are off. So then...
@DG: The second amendment is largely open to interpretation. It could refer to private citizenry, or could simply refer to keeping a standing army. Also consider the historical context under which the Constitution was created. The right to bear arms was vital during that time because of western expansion, which gauranteed contact with Native Americans who would not take well to white men settling on their land. And just assuming that the Second Amendment means unlimited and unrestricted gun ownership, is that really a good idea? If we interpreted it that way, it means people could have access to military-grade automatic weapons, the only use for which is killing massive amounts of people quickly. If we let people like the VT shooter get guns like that, we'd be dealing with insane tragedies. Gun control is common sense, regardless of what the Second Amendment means. -
I'll just say it again.
I agree mass shooting is a terrible thing caused by terrible people. Since they are terrible people, they'll find other terrible ways to do terrible things.
The amount of times I've said "terrible" in this is terrible. -
tongue AdvancedThat idea generally applies more to street criminals. In rural parts of the country, there isn't much of a black market for guns.
