  And yes, there are other ways of killing people, but guns are the most effective method of killing large amounts of people. Guns were invented to kill more people in war. Controlling guns doesn't eradicate violence or murder, but it does make a mass murder like Va Tech or Tucson a lot less likely if those people aren't able to acquire guns.

  I agree with tongue. Just look at the murder statistics of countries with gun control and compare them to that of the US.

  Well actually, there isn't a link between gun ownership and the rate of gun-related crimes. The United States and Canada have roughly the same amount of guns per capita, but the crime rate in the United States is signifigantly higher. I don't believe that violence can be eradicated by prohibition in alone. Our society is a violent one. I simply believe gun control is common sense, that some people shouldn't be allowed to have guns and that you should have to go through a background check before getting a gun. Will there still be gun violence? Yes, because guns aren't the only reason for crime, and there are black markets for guns where they are in high demand. But gun control would keep tragedies like Virginia Tech from happening, which I think we'd all be happy about.

  People... for one, I hate guns. Sure they're useful and stuff for quick killing, and last minute defense, but seriously, they are kind of lame. I like medieval weapons much better. Don't ask me how that ties in with this discussion, just yeah, I'm bored.
  
  But really, I'm against gun control. I mean, I wouldn't want to have a gun in the house when I have kids or stuff, but it would be useful for protection...although, if everyone had a gun, the criminals would just get their hands on something bigger and better, and they'd learn to be more sneaky and hands on. Which we do not want. So really, just eliminate weapons, but since that isn't possible, eliminate humans! Remove the threat!
  
  We already do that with other animals, when there's overpopulation, so why not with our own kind? The problem is, that is called a crime. Not controlling population. So really, we'd have to let ourselves be killed by other animals and such, but since we're hardwired to survive, we'd just go to a hospital. Dang, humans are adaptable!
  
  So basically, what I just said there is: It would be better if the government killed people than if a criminal did it. And the government can't be a criminal.
