tongue ExperiencedSo while no one has declared they are running yet, I think it's fair to say the Republicans are already getting started with the next election for President. Newt Gingrich looks about ready to run. Mitt Romney was ready to run the minute Obama was elected. Haley Barbour, Rick Santorum, and Tim Pawlenty have been to all the major primary states. Mike Huckabee is pandering to birthers. And Donald Trump looks more and more like he's gonna run everyday.
This is a very sinister yet ingenious strategy the GOP's presidential hopefuls are employing. Because there is no official race yet, they don't have to compete with each other or worry about being smeared, but they can still promote themselves. They aren't being grilled on the issues- they decide what they want to say, which usually goes something like "Obamacare will kill you" or "Obama is turning America into a socialist nation". Ultimately though, I think this could be dangerous for the party. A shorter primary season means there will be less time for frontrunners to emerge. The race could get very ugly as a result. Meanwhile, Obama will be running unopposed for his party's nomination and will have ample opportunity to campaign while the GOP's candidates will be ripping each other apart.
That's one possibility at least. -
There's also my candidate who has already announced his candidacy, Herman Cain.
