Thread Topic: Is abortion murder?

Science and common sense don't work with this one, sadly.
-
ultravilot NoviceIf I gave you a seed and asked you if it was a living organisms what would you say?
-
I'm fairly certain a seed is not an organism. Don't confuse seeds which have the potential to create life with actual living things. By that logic it is wrong to masturbate because wasting sperm is murder.
-
Ok, what if I gave you an seed with a little growth on it?
-
Thank you ultraviolet for talking for me while I was gone,
-
ultravilot NoviceNo problem.
-
The concept of abortion being murder depends upon how you define life and murder.
A seed is living. If you eat it would you say it's murder? No (hopefully) Murder according to law is different. It just doesn't simply means taking life away. -
Can the seed feel pain? No. You cannot truly say something is alive until it can feel pain, which even fully-grown plants are incapable of.
-
My point is that just as the moment you give a seed water and sunlight it begins to grow and is a living organism. Just the same is a human embryo, once you have sex with someone the embryo inside you begins to grow and is also a living organism.
-
A human embryo is not an organism until its organs develop.
-
Aye! Listen people! Your not listening. I give up, see you tomorrow world.

The funny thing is that human procreation isnt the generation of life. Its more like an evolution of what already exists. Scientifically speaking, life doesn't begin with conception, or even the cells in your own body that will eventually procreate. It began millions upon millions of years ago, and has since been in a state of evolution.
Murder is point of view and is absolutely dictated by the given moors of the culture. Currently, no its not considered murder. But that couldnt be more irrelevant because we kill things ALL the time. Including our own cells. Life is absolutely worthless inherintly. from sperm and egg, to zygote, to fetus, to infant, to child to adult, humanity is as wortgless as any other form of life, or formation of minerals, choirs of energy, eddies of time. Its all completely meaningless without perspective.
So really, if you want to kill the human cells tht would eventually become a baby, yes, you ARE killing life, but take comfort in the fact that you didnt create it, and it really doesnt matter one way or the other -
"It's all completely meaningless without perspective"
:')
I have to agree with Slim. -
"Murder is point of view and is absolutely dictated by the given moors of the culture."
Perfectly said.
Fetuses aren't a black and white thing, they are a long scale.
I personally support the choice being given however under many circumstances I do not support it.
To put this into easy understand terms, I'd support an organization that tries to stop people having abortion and helps them with their problems. I wouldn't support one which goes petitioning for abortion to be removed. -
Really, y'all are resorting to moral relativism and nihilism to support your moral argument? Seriously, think long and hard about what you are agreeing with.
