Ivsn petted Giovanni's head.

He smiled up at Ivan.

Ivan smiled down at Giovanni.

Suddenly, his phone began to ring. He looked startled for a second, then reached into his pocket to answer it.

Ivan looked at Giovanni. "Who is it?"

Bump.

"Grandfather," he told him, right before he answered the phone. He answered it in English, but soon began babbling in Italian.

Ivan was immediately lost and just laid back on the bed.

The conversation continued like that, calmly. Then it began breaking out in screaming. Giovanni began screaming in Italian, seeming angry. It was one of the rare times that he was so furious like that.

"Woah woah woah, what's going on?" he asked demandingly.

Giovanni pointed his finger at Ivan to quiet him, seeming just as irritated at him. For a few minutes the yelling went on, then finally Giovanni hollered, "Tu non sei mio padre, ti odio!" and hung up on his grandfather.

"What was that about?" Ivan asked concernedly.

Giovanni held his face in his hands. "My.. my grandfather told me that I was in the suspect list for Martin's murder and he demanded that I leave you and go back to America.. and turn myself in," he muttered softly. Then he just began to sob. "Then he began ratting me out about how much of a horrible grandchild I was, and how I'm a disgrace."

Ivan pulled him quickly into his arms. "I'm so sorry, Giovanni. This is my fault," he muttered.

"It's not your fault," Giovanni protested, tears running down the sides of his face. "It's not at all your fault."
