I glanced up at him, my eyes heavy. "What's wrong?"
-
"Nothing, Kaden."
-
"You look upset. Tell me... I bet I know what you're thinking... I don't have a chance. They don't have to tell me... I just know." I held his gaze, my eyes riddled with pain and sadness. "Just do me a favor?... Please?"
-
I clasped my hands before my back. "Yes?"
-
I reached up with a trembling hand and removed my dog tags from my neck. "Send these to North Carolina if I don't make it. I want them laid next to my brother's grave."
-
I nodded, saluting, even if he was a lower rank. "Yes, sir."
-
Dude, I just ate like five pieces of matzo for dinner. xD
I shook my head. "You don't have to 'yes, sir' me. You're my friend. I trust you with these." I held out the dog tags, my arm quivering from the movement. -
Matzo?
I smiled and took them. His hand is so... warm... -
Pronounced "Maht-zah". It's a Jewish 'cracker', if you want me to put it bluntly. xD
"So, I guess I'm... stuck 'ere... for a... while..." Talking was a real chore, but I could manage for the time being. -
Looks.... lovely?
"Yeah, I suppose. Do you... want me to leave, or?" -
xP You're not a habitual Jew. You wouldn't understand.
I shook my head. "No..." -
Habitual?
D: YOURE SAYING THINGS I DONT UNDERSTAND.
On the inside, I was relieved he didn't want me to go. "Alright." -
xD Regular. As in typical, as in routine. As in I take part in Jewish traditions. :P
"Talk to me... Tell me something..." I glanced up at him. I was happy that he didn't leave. -
What is that supposed to mean?
"Well, Kaden," I began. "I.. actually want to know a bit about you, if you don't care..." -
Like, I'm a religious Jew, therefore I have been in touch with my Jewish side immensely. Unless you understand the meaning of matzo, it can seem like just some other unleavened bread.
"O-okay..." I sighed, attempting to sit up. "I'm sixteen years old... I have two younger brothers...." A sudden difficulty to breathe swooped over me. I gasped and sputtered, trying to bring in air that would not come.
