He waited, looking around the house with interest. -
He boiled ze water and got the ingredients. The house had an open floor plan so he could see Nick from the kitchen, smiling happily as he worked.

Lol 'ze' reminds me of when France trolls Iggy.
He couldn't help but stare at the walls, which weren't as dark and dreary as the ones at his own home. It was almost the exact opposite. -

"...Mom used to spend a lot of time around here, before she went back to work." Alex said softly. "She always tried to make it feel homey, and I guess it still kind of does. But now they seem so, distant and apathetic these days." -
Nick turned to Alex, his eyes full of sympathy. "I'm sorry," he said sadly, knowing exactly the effects of almost endless work.

"Probably because I'm so quiet sometimes. And small. Doesn't make a difference if I'm there or not."
