"Aw, you make me so happy." He went back to eating happily.
-
"I'm happy I make you happy," he said softly. He resumed his eating as well.
-
After a moment Alex's dad enters the kitchen. "Mm, smells good..." He went to get himself a plate. "You almost cook as well as your mother. Though I wouldn't encourage doing it much." Nonetheless, the man got a taco or two to eat for himself. Alex just smiled. "Are you afraid I'll become a good housewife, dad?" The man just gave him a look and walked out.
-
Nick gave a little look to Alex at the last comment he said. He was already alert with his dad coming in, but with Alex saying that.. he was terrified the father would say something back.
-
"Sorry." Alex whispered to him. "Things just slip out, sometimes."
-
"It's alright. I understand." He sighed softly.
-
"Alex, can I talk to you?" A voice from in the living room called out. "Alone." Alex sighed quietly. "Okay." He looked at the other, trying to be reassuring, then went into the den. "Yes, dad?" "Are you...funny?" The blunt question came out suddenly. "Funny? ...Nah, not many people laugh at my jokes." "You know what I mean." The dad said sternly. "Seriously, why else would you care about all that girly stuff you do? You're sixteen and you've never had a girlfriend. You don't even try to act like a normal kid." "Dad..." This wasn't how he wanted to tell him, though he knew his dad's temper would be unavoidable either way.
-
Dun dun dun.
Nick waited behind nervously, feeling his heart beating like crazy. He feared the worst, and he knew he had to be prepared in case he got kicked out or something.
But at the same time, if what he thought what was going to happen happened, he knew not even the opinion of an adult would change his mind. He wouldn't let anything change him at this point. -
Yup. .3.
"Yeah, dad, I am." Alex said finally. "I'm not the way you wanted me to turn out, but at least I'm happy, for once in my life. For once I have something, someone to live for, and nothing will change my mind." His own heart was beating quickly, despite his confident words. His dad just looked at him for a minute, then sighed. "Well, it's not what's ideal in my mind, but I'm not kicking you out or something like that..." The dad didn't really have much to say. "Maybe I'm a bit disappointed, but it can't be helped, right?" Alex was surprised at his calmness. "So your friend, Nick, is he your..." The dad asked before Alex could say anything, and the teen nodded. "Okay. He seems like a nice kid...I suppose I always knew, just needed to confirm it. You can go back now."
And with that the dad went back to eating the tacos, and Alex stumbled back into the kitchen in sheer disbelief. -
Nick saw him pretty much stumble into the kitchen, and he felt something was wrong. He gave the older boy a questioning look, holding his taco in midair as he waited for an answer.
-
"He seems... fine with it..." Alex said, looking up to his love, a smile appearing on his face.
-
A smile also appeared on Nick's face. "That's wonderful.." he whispered happily.
-
He hugged him happily, glad that went better than expected. "Now we don't have to worry~ hehe."
-
"Yeah. I think the worries are gone now~" he laughed, hugging him back.
-
"Hopefully." He giggled. "Dad's going to go back to work soon, and mom may not be back for a while either."
