(He says: *pokes back*)
Misfortune finally closed her eyes a little, peering out from under her eyelashes. Her vision was blurry like this, but she wouldn't let herself sleep until he was gone. -
(But you see, as I type the word poke, I am poking.)
Zack watched the girl. He knew she was watching him. But somehow, he fell asleep. -
(He poked the cat picture. You got poked, Selena.)
Misfortune sat up unhappily. He had fallen asleep. What was she going to do now? She stood up shakily and walked closer. She glared down at his sleeping form, considering cutting him up. She wouldn't. She knew she wouldn't cut anyone who wasn't her target. She turned and walked away, jumping a few roofs over and laying down again. He knew nothing about her. And the last thing she needed was to wake up and see him there. -
(NOOOO!!!! I'm poking my iPod.)
Zack woke up a few hours later. Hd knew she'd gone a few rooftops over. He felt in one of his pockets. He had enough money. He went down to the street and into a bakery and bought two bagels. He figured he should thank her for not killing him or something. -
(He poked you again. Zack doesn't know that she's an assassin, does he? Cuz she never told him, and her weapon is well concealed.)
Misfortune moved quickly through the streets, chewing on a piece of bread. She thought about her next assignment. As her mind was distracted, a begger grabbed her wrist and held on.
"Spare change?" he asked in a raspy voice.
She stared at the pitiful man, and snatched her hand away. She averted her eyes.
"No. I'm sorry." she said quickly. She moved away faster, running over the sidewalk. She stumbled, groggy. she had just woken up. -
(Nope.)
Zack went back to the roofs but didn't find the girl. Sighing, he sat down. He accidentally dropped one of the bagels. It fell on a homeless man's head. Zack scooted away from the edge of the building before anyone looked up. -
(He petted your cat. I think there's something wrong with his head. Anyway, why would he think she could have killed him?)
Misfortune caught herself and sighed. She looked around. No one even glanced at her. She laughed to herself. Every one of them thought that the chain wrapped so tightly around her waist was a belt or an accessory. Her idea had worked. She didn't mind the cutting of the chain into her stomach. No one could see it, and she didn't have to carry around a weapon holder or anything. She kept walking, mournign the loss of her bread, which she had dropped when she had stumbled. -
(Because she's bigger and older and stronger and he's naturally afraid of people and had childhood issues with bullying.)
Zack looked down at the people. He saw the girl. May as well thank her for not killing him now.
He went down to the street and followed her. -
Misfortune stopped again at a new vendor. No bread, but there was mango. She bought three, feeling very hungry. She didn't have much money. She'd probably have to skip her evening meal tonight. She walked away, biting into one of the fruits.
-
I walked up behind her and tapped her shoulder.
-
Sulfur jumped, dropping a mango. Her hand shot out and caught it. She wheeled around and glared at the same face that had chased her from her favorite rooftop the night before.
Her eyes narrowed again. She waited, not allowing herself to eat while he was there. -
(O HAII SULFUR....)
Zack looked at her. It was easy to pretend to be brave. Not be brave. "Um... thanks for, you know, not killing me." -
(Oops, my bad. PLEASE FORGIVE!! I meant Misfortune. I'm still used to using Sulfur.)
Misfortune tilted her head on one side. Did he know? He couldn't. She glanced down at her chain. It didn't look anything like a weapon. She hadn't smiled to him at all. There was no reason for him to be afraid of her.
She feigned innocence, feeling very irritated. She just wanted to eat.
"What?" -
(I don't care. James misses Sulfur.)
"I mean, you just kinda looked like you wanted to murder me last night, that's all," Zack mumbled awkwardly. -
(Poor James. I have to be more careful.)
Misfortune stared at him for a moment, then turned and began to walk away. She took a small bite from her mango.
