Toy Soldiers.
They fall, one by one
Like scattered poppies
on an endless field of blood and gore
This battlefield, stained with honor and integrity
Tell me what were they fighting for?
The soldiers, falling one by one
like dominoes, all across the floor
Tears woven into the life that comes
That dreaded march to the door.
Next comes the shattered hearts
The nightmare that came to life
The news felt like a dagger
or maybe it was a jagged knife?
Like toy soldiers, falling one by one
Like leaves, falling in the autumn breeze
Like a horror movie that could turn you green
You can't unsee what has been seen.
An endless supply of eagar recruits
Ready to fight this endless war
Like pawns in a game of chess
Just to watch the eagle soar.
Toy soldiers, falling one by one
The broken echo, of the questions asked
The distorted song, sung by the faven
Did they care, do they really care
for the lives lost in the endless war? -
