I really wanted to movie to challenge the patriarchy and to strive towards creating a more equal world where neither men nor women have to live in the other gender’s shadows, and I found that it only brought to life what women go through. Which obviously is very meaningful because I almost cried during that scene, but also I really wanted the movie to place more blame on the patriarchy for setting these expectations for women. It almost made it feel like men weren’t the cause of this problem, which I wish that I would because patriarchy is the only reason that we try to appeal to others like that.
I also wish it would talk more about how women have to try to please everyone, while men are applauded simply for being men. -
While I loved the speech and it meant so much, it didn’t feel like complete justice for women

and even while saying all this stuff about barbie, it made such a big impact on other girls that i cant say that they were able to get the message across well enough. because while i see some flaws in the movie itself, they dont matter because i saw girls crying when they walked out of the theater because they hadnt ever felt heard
and just the way that it was so meaningful to other girls makes it that much more meaningful to me -
this made me so much more of a girls girl
and truthfully after wanting a bf so badly, im not even trying to rebel against the idea, i just dont want one anymore. im just happy with being happy with myself -
